Vsync refuses to stay on

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 9:35 am

I can deal with terrible textures and how they are almost vacant but I absolutely hate screen tearing. This game has taken screen tearing to an entirely new level. I normally have to look for tearing but in this game its just ridiculous. I have the updated beta drivers, ive tried launch configs, tried in game vsync and even tried forcing it through control panel. Regardless of how I adjust vsync the game tears with a fury of a thousand suns. In addition to configurations I even completely reformatted windows 7 and installed the game over, even tried older graphics drivers. The second I turn on vsync and save it in game it reverts right the hell back to "off"

Anyone care to enlighten me with possible fixes for screen tear? I cant imagine anyone has done something I havnt

If you have Catalyst Control Center or the Nvidia equivalent enable Vsync there and make sure "use application settings" is unchecked.

I had this problem! You say you 'tried forcing it through control panel'. Are you using nvidia? If so did you 'force on' using global settings or program settings in the 'manage 3D settings' tab? For me, global settings didnt work, so i went into program settings and scrolled down a long list to find 'Rage (rage.exe)' and 'Rage (rage64.exe)' set these both to force on vertical sync. This solved the problem for me.....

I did try forcing it through the control panel. I have not tried using the game profiles though, shall try that

I have the same problem. I tried the rage.exe and set to application control, I tried forcing it, I tried forcing it through the rage.cfg. Nothing [censored]in works. I enable it and it just disables itself and screen tearing galore.

That actually worked beautifully..for some reason rage.exe and rage.exe(x64) in nvidia control panel were set to auto force off vsync..no frigin idea why but I enabled it and now i have no more screen tearing thank you!!

Now only if the textures actually looked descent.. :/

Doesn't work for me. I have both rage.exe and rage64.exe set to application control and it still turns off.
