Wait, is that seriously all there is?!

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 4:05 pm

Please tell me I'm missing something:

I just ran through the vampire's quest-line: Serana, becoming a vamp lord, getting all the places in the Vale, and up to eventually defeating Harkon.

I know there's a side-quest or two in the Soul Cairn (aside from the steed's skull), and there might be a few quests in the Vale, but...

Where is the rest of the content? I HARDLY encountered the Dawnguard, and I thought this was supposed to be a sort of battle between the two factions? Only time I encountered the Dawnguard was when they randomly showed up, out of no where.

Now, I have no quests left on the vampire side, and I'm wondering if that was literally all there was.

Please tell me I'm just 'tarded.

edit, PS: I'm gonna be pissed if the 'other half' of the DLC is playing on the Dawnguard side. Shivering Isles had WAAAY more content, if this is the case.

There are side quests within each faction. And others that are not relate to either. There is more content, but it isn't handed to you on a silver platter.

Did you rush through it? Did you take time to explore each new area? What about side-quests? It took me 15 hours to complete the vampire-side because I paced myself. Also, I took a few breaks by playing my alt on the DG side. I feel satisfied however I can see where you're coming from, It left me wanting more.

I took my time, and even used the vampire lord assets for other, vanilla quests. But after I decided to finish the vampire quest-line, I was like, "Wait, is that IT?" Shivering Isles took me DAYS to complete.

I loved Fallout games, but I feel like they took WAY too much influence---and recycled ideas---- from Fallout 3/New Vegas. Then they half-assed New Vegas because they were working on Skyrim, and now they half-assed Dawnguard because they're working on Elder Scrolls Online.....

...Is my theory.

You are comparing two completely different DLCs. One of which involved a complete new location. So you can say they are the same in the slightest.

They had Obsidian working on New Vegas so they could focus on Skyrim.

Not saying I didn't enjoy the content they added, I was just hoping for a lot more different armor types...and well, way more content. Yes, I am comparing Dawnguard to the Shivering Isles because, well, frankly, I expected at least as much content, if not more. I'm LOOKING at the Shivering Isles map next to me, and remembering the insane amount of time and quests it took to complete that entire DLC, and I'm pretty sure Dawnguard is lacking, in my current experience.

And I'm pretty sure Bethesda sends their employees wherever they're needed or utilized. Just because an associate worked on Fallout: New Vegas, doesn't mean the same associate wasn't sent to work on other games, including Skyrim/Dawnguard, etc. ;P

And I don't mean Todd Howard or any big-wigs. I mean the little people you never hear about because no one ever sits through the credits.

Lost to the Ages was such a great quest, I was really glad they added something big and meaningful that had nothing to do with the dawnguard or the vamps. I found there was plenty to do i places like the forgottne vale and the soul cairn, the dawngaurd story however was nothing different to the vamps which I didn't like.

There was a good amount of quests but you have to find them. It did leave me wanting more as well, really wish there was more snow elf content after what we've seen during the Dawnguard main quest.

Shivering Isles was also much more thought-out. I'd rather pay more for a complete idea, instead of a rushed idea to satisfy expectations. I would have paid more and waited longer. ;T DOES ANYONE HERE REMEMBER SHIVERING ISLES? Or am I just talking to people giving Skyrimjobs?

You can say one has less content though.

1 gig less content.

The rest of the content is the Dawnguard side, basically copypasta of the vamp side.

I would like to use this time to cash out some of my "I told you so"'s when I said "If Todd Howard says it's 10-20 hours of content, you better expect 10 hours."

They didn't half-ass New Vegas, Bethesda didn't make New Vegas, they only published it.
And they have been working on TES:Online for 5 years, if that is true they also half assed some of the DLC's as well as Skyrim.

Its was naive to belive him in first place, usage of half-truths are common practice in bethesda PR department,

And btw Shivering Isles was full fledged expansion, this is a DLC, i doubt we see a *proper* expansion for any beth game in future, because DLC's are maximum profit for minimum work

Perhaps, but then why does Skyrim have some significant similarities to Fallout: New Vegas?

It's definitely NOT because the same ideas, engines, engineers, and programmers were used.... is it? Noooo... Can't be. That's just LUDICROUS.

This. I've played through the main Dawnguard quest, and people are talking about other quests I haven't dug up yet. It's true that you have to fish around for it.

However, if you start off with a kind of "wft where's all the stuff at" mentality, then I doubt it will be enough to satisfy... because little will do. Or little that Bethesda will feasibly release will do.
