As the title says, I want to get a tattoo. I've been thinking about it for a while, but I haven't been able to think of something good for a while. I just recently came up with a quote I want to get tattooed (the end of The Great Gatsby: “So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.") However, I'm not exactly sure how big quotes turn out being in tattoo form, nor where would be the best place to get the tattoo. So my questions are, is the quote too long to get, and where would be the best place to get it. For the latter, I was thinking about my wrist/arm, but I don't know.

That's where I'd get a quote. Some advice, look into the specifics of the art you're getting. Sometimes something will make you look affiliated when you're not. That's like me going to Oakland and wearing a red or blue shirt. You just don't do it.

I've never gotten a tattoo myself so I'm hardly any expert, but it would seem to me that the process of getting a tattoo should start with coming across something of intimate personal value, and then the desire to get a tattoo of it. Instead of starting with the desire to just get a tattoo for the sake of having a tattoo. I'd really put any thoughts of getting a tattoo aside until you find something in your life that you could feel strongly enough about to have it engraved into your skin for the rest of your life.

The general advice for people thinking about getting a tattoo is to keep the image (or in this case, quote) someplace where you'll see it every day. If you're not sick of it after six months, go ahead and get it.

You can never think too long about making such a permanent addition to your appearance.
