Dragon Age. Lol.

I played DA origins and DA2 just to keep myself busy while waiting for Skyrim.

After Skyrim was released, I lost absolutely all desire to even look at those games on my shelf.

I sold everything Dragon Age related on ebay.

I don't know about DA2 as I haven't played that game, but DA Origins was a pretty fun game.

General consensus is something along the lines of DA: Origins being the last real BioWare RPG and Dragon Age II being a rushed, over-the-top "actiony" piece of garbage. I tend to agree.

My buddy is on the same line of thinking.

He was. Massive BG, BG2 DA:O fan
But when DA:2 came out...he was EXTREAMLY pissed off. He won't be buying 3. (unless they do make it more like skyrim like bio ware suggested)

The thing that causes me to poke fun at Dragon age is the fact that slaying Dragons is the general theme of the game, along with dragons influencing a huge part of the main story.

When you put these two dragon-themed rpg's side by side, you have one destroying the other in terms of awesomeness.

But Dragon Age had the sixy voice of one Claudia Black! That's something that Skyrim is definitely lacking in.

DA2 is the worst game to be released in some time. There is no content past the first act, everything is just a rehash of the same areas throughout the game. The story is pathetic, makes no sense at all, and has so many holes in it its up for an award in the swiss cheese catagory. How anyone could think its a good game is beyond me.

I concur.

DA2 was too heavily rail-roaded.

I absolutely agree. Everything about dragon age is now obsolete.

Dragon Age II was a complete failure. I sold it after finishing it and started Origins over from scratch.. but now Skyrim has consumed me :woot:

Dragon Age: Origins i the best thing Bioware has done since the days of Baldur's Gate. Maybe because they started working on it even before NWN and it still carries that taste of oldskool vibe that a lot of veterans players miss in all subsequent Bioware productions.

I wouldn't quite go that far, though I admit that I did find Skyrim slightly dull in comparison to DA:O.

I never played DA 2, but the first one never seems to hold my interest for more than a week after playing it for some time. I mean it's fun but it's also boring at the same time.

I'd love to point you in the direction of many DS games like the Imagine series, millions of cheap imitation apps or just games that never got made before because they where terrible ideas to begin with and Final Fantasy XIII as a major release. Not that this even covers every major release or game in the past year that has been terribawful.
Story wise what doesn't make sense or is a huge plot hole? I don't remember them surviving a plane crash on a tropical island with a polar bear and a ghost that devours people but then they die at some random point after still failing to explain anything and continuing "living". Which is apparently genius writing. I remember a family fleeing from a war, one which has to work its way up in society then (and not do nothing yet claim racism and be believed), a rising tension from an unpoplar race which eventully burst, followed by blind justice being served for decades of abuse and oppression, much of which cause by a possession of a person in power seeking more. By no means game of the century it made many mistakes including ones that are a growing trend in the gaming industry (one bethesda is far from guilt free of) it did need more time to make more dungeons and maybe flesh out the stories between the time gaps but not the time gaps themselves it is a good plot device handy for avoiding within a month becoming king of the world and every conflicting sect in it.

Shame you sold all DA even DA:O which probally provide 100 hours of stable entertainment fairly free from frustration in glitches and design flaws. Shame too that as likely as that case is, considering the game is about 4 years old now and nothing made you sell it before, you seem to feel the need to insult both the game and developer for all those hours of enjoyment. I guess that wasn't good enough and you should have had to restart due to bugs or not liking a perk you chose over and over, and sixuality, personality and courtship are such ridiculous ideas that have to be thrown out the window, anyone should want to marry you after giving them an apple.

I forgot when new bars are set it's usually lower then the last one in almost every feature, aside from a huge shiny world but excluded is repeating graphics for some but not others, actually like most of what would normally be considered flaws and would be if in any other game.

I played about half-way through the original Dragon Age. I wanted to like it, I really did, but it bored me so much that eventually even the thought of playing it brought me down. So I traded it in. The same happened with Mass Effect. I guess Bioware RPGs aren't for me any more.

Exactly, if Skyrim had Claudia Black in it I have a feeling that the complaints of poor voice acting would take a steep plummet.

As to the OP: Morrigan Disapproves -10

DAO was actually an excellent game, one of my favorites, a lot of time and attention, good writing. DA2 was crap. But I don't or get rid of games I like just because I am playing something else., So DAO remains installed on my machine, ymmv.

I found the replay value of DA:O to be severely lacking. After the opening, everything is the same regardless of race. I did have fun with it for a while but it is long forgotten indeed, traded it in a while ago.

Not everything: granted, it's mostly the same, though there are various dialogue options, encounters and so on that differ depending on the origin in question. But I found that the opening section was long and interesting enough to be worth a play-through in its own right, even if I didn't finish the game with every character: I think I played through just twice (well, about two-and-a-quarter times!) but tried out about six or seven characters to see the different origins.

I love DA:O, never played DA2 as I waited for reviews and I've rarely heard good things said about it. Not even being able to look at a game on a shelf and selling it seems a bit dramatic imo.

DA2 isn't completely crap: although it does have many awful flaws, I wouldn't say my life is worse having played it. It still had its moments.
