Want Skyrim to run smoother?

I have proven this to work with other games as well.

Disconnect the Internet from your ps3. Don't just sign out, the reason why is because as long as your ps3 has a connection its will still lag because of the notifications. They will keep coming in and every time they do it will cause your game to lag or maybe even crash. For me doing this works. I never really have any problems with all these games people say are sometimes unplayable. I've told my friends about this and it works for them. I've posted this same advice on other and forums and people always thank me.

Some people say this does not have any affect on the game but some say it does help. I also think it depends on your internet speed. I say this because before I moved I had fiber optic internet and I never had this problem, then I moved and now have crappy DSL that should just be dial up, the problem started when I moved. Just making so the ps3 had less things to do really helped certain games I was playing.

This advice may not be for everybody but if it works for you I'm glad it helped. Feel free to post any other ways you have discovered to make the game run smoother. Thank guys/gals.

This helps.

I've done this along with lowering my RAM usage in the XMB settings and the game's still pretty bad.

I'll try that. All I know is that going into new territory in-game and exploring causes lag. Only crashed once 15 hours. Not bad but it might get worse.

I don't think the number of save files you have makes any difference ... I rotate 20 saves, not counting the 3 autosaves and I have no lag (knock wood). 30+ hours in.

... dude ive owned a ps3 since day one and i know for a fact you cant change how much RAM the XMB uses in any case unless maybe your on a hacked PS3...

Feel free to prove me wrong

ok back on toppic i this will help with minor PS3 lag issues when you get a message or a friend signs on if you have crappy internet like us...

Edit: if your lag problems are only coming up after a few hours of play try saving your game and then exiting back to your XMB and restart the game it has fixed most of the issues i have (usualy do this ever 3 or so hours)
