Want to switch to PC gaming

Post » Sat Jan 26, 2013 2:18 pm

So as the title states I would really like to switch to PC gaming in regards to RPGs like the TES series and Fallout. However I know absolutely nothing about PCs. I attend college and my only job is a 4/hr week on campus job so it cannot be tremendously expensive, in fact I cannot purchase anything at the moment. I would like if you the community, who undoubtedly have more PC experience, could steer me in the right direction.

I was shopping around a little and I managed to find this laptop. It has a few good reviews from self-proclaimed gamers so I'll add this link here as a starting point.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

First of all, welcome to the glorious PC gaming master race! :D

Secondly are you set on a laptop? You can usually get a much more powerful desktop system for the same price as a so called 'gaming laptop'.

Because I'm in college I don't really have a set place to put a desktop down, it would be easier to have a laptop for me.

I don't think you can find a gaming laptop for under $1,250 that can compete with even a mid-range gaming desktop. That is just my opinion though, so don't take my word for it, do some research.

TIP: Absolutely, and with no doubt, stay away from HP for gaming. HP laptops are notorious for overheating problems, even if they only show up down the line.

Since you are in college and living in a dorm I would suggest you just stick to consoles. Much easier. New consoles are coming soon anyway.
