The entertainment industry is the "coal mining" of the 21st century. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.

Don't we all....
Well start modding like hell and make some good college plans but you'll have to become either a ninja or a Todd.

I deleted one pointless, rude post that contained one word and the facepalm emote. If some of you can't be respectful or courteous, then don't post. If I see any more I will hand out warnings for flaming.

OP, good luck - if you are truly interested in working in game development in some capacity, learn all you can about games. Bethesda's games with their construction kits are a great way to learn different things. You are never too young to create a mod or three.

My dream is still to become a pokemon master!! :teehee:

At least you know what you want to do at a young age. It took me forever to figure out what I wanted to do. Start working hard now, and I bet you could make it. What really syphons out the dedicated from the others is the hard work. Goodluck!

I would absolutely love to work as a writer for Bethesda one day, and maybe offer some voice acting (not for every damn NPC mind you). Highly doubt game companies hire writers very often though, and I am sure they have a list of candidates in case they ever do need to get more.

That being said, I will continue writing cheesy Fallout Fanfiction until my efforts are noticed! :touched:

Working on game industry can be hard. I've myself found that I really can't enjoy gaming in that extend I did before. You start anolysing the games, become more critical how things are done, etc.
And that is just one downside. You really have to be really devoted to making games, not just your favorite RPG.

I too want to become a game developer. In fact, I am even attending college right now to get a degree in Computer Science. Bethesda wouldn't be my first choice though, given the distance away from my beloved Washington. To start out, I'll probably work at Monolith (7 minutes away from my house), Valve (40 minutes), Nintendo (20 minutes), Microsoft (20 minutes), or even Google (5 minutes). Washington is awesome.

You should start doing a lot of research on the game industry, and figure out where you might fit in. Find what interests you about making games, and then develop a plan that sees you through to a college degree in the applicable area. Furthermore, start working on stuff NOW. The longer you've been involved the more experience you'll have. Games are a multi-billion dollar industry. That said, very few people get the job they want from the start. Far fewer get to work on the games they want. You have to love games, you have to love playing games, you have to love making games... ALL games. You've got nearly a decade before you're likely to be available to hire by a game studio. In that time so many things will change. Bethesda may not even be around, or it may not be doing what it is now. Companies grow, merge, disappear, rebrand, etc. Having a goal to work for Bethesda is great, but don't let that be your only goal.

Tell them you're good at bug finding and QA, then it's guaranteed you won't get a job

Rob, you're not alone. I'm 15. Working with or at Bethesda is my dream, but the more i go into the developing/modding i realize that i can't do a game, there's lots of different professions needed, artists, writers etc etc.
By join to you mean, join a team? Make our own company, sell it to Bethesda for 1$, = profit for both, start with no salary, only working to have fun and make games, first game released, salary starts! = More Profit for both XD

No offense, but that sounds like a bad idea. Working in the gaming industry is not all fun and games, your goal shouldn't be to work with no salary just so you can have a job there.

If the OP is serious, learning to mod the game and come up with your own mods is the 1st main step. If you can make some great mods those will probably get noticed by gamesas or BGS. Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul was noticed by a lot of people and he got hired by Obsidian to work on Fallout New Vegas. A college education is also a huge help too.
