how there wasn't much civilization and there's not much difference in landscape compared to Skyrim.
Before Skyrim came out, I was curious to how Morrowind was because I never got my hands on that game. When this DLC was coming I expected a change in scenery, but it was nearly the same as Skyrim.

The rest of the DLC is well done, but after 500+ hours in tundra, mountains and grassland, it would be nice to see something other than mountains and ashy grassland.

Well Solstheim is something like 150 miles off the coast of Morrowind and more into Skyrim territory which is why before the Nords gifted it to the Dunmer it was part of Skyrim so it should be no surprise that it has a lot of the same climate as Skyrim.
