WASD movement

Post » Sat Mar 23, 2013 7:43 pm

In a single-player game it′s fine for me but in MMO′s i prefer mouse movement. I just couldn′t find any information yet which says if mouse movement is possible at all in TESO.

This is my biggest concern thus far because my main focus is pvp and beeing forced to play with WASD controls in pvp sounds really bad. Quick 180 ° turns and strafing are kinda awkward with WASD controls. If someone attacks me from behind i lose a lot of time if i can′t instantly turn and react to that. I just can′t imagine playing pvp like that...especially as a melee class, for me they are definitely not playable with this kind of movement in pvp.

WASD will more than likely control movement, but not turning, I don't ever remember a MMO that did that, or only had that one option. ESO is soft lock controlled, meaning you have to physically aim at your target if you want to hit it. There's next to no other way to do that than with a mouse. It will more or less be like Skyrim, but will be a little bit more lenient with the targeting because of latency/200 person battles.

By mouse movement, I'm assuming you mean holding down the left and right mouse buttons in order to move. Your left mouse button will be your primary melee weapon/spell/bow attack, and your right button will control things like blocking and dodging. In order to move, you will need WASD, but not to aim.

It'd be very strange if you can't map the buttons the way you like it. I for instance walk on MB2... always have, always will.

I'm hoping to be able to plug my 360 controller into my PC like I do for Skyrim and everything will stay mapped the same, save some time on the learning.

There's no info as of yet about maping (kinda early for that).

But if it helps any, they DID confirm that while they do not have direct support for controllers, they do allow third party software support of controllers to play ESO. So, my guess is if they allow outside console controller support and recognize it, there will DEFINETLY be something at least for mouse-control, if not an already mapped-in option for the game.

WASD has worked well for movement on the PC in many games, especially with live-action combat.
try out chivalry if you have concerns.

Ya I hope we can map the Xbox controller in but excluding that I love the WASD key options for sure I like looking around while I run and you just can't do it correctly with just mouse movement motto mention fighting and moving.

I would hope so. I've become so accustomed to moving with the mouse and key binding mouse buttons for abilities, it would be a pain in the ass to retrain those instincts now. :P
