water reflection bug

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 5:17 pm

This isn't my video but i've got the exact same problem. Its most noticeable looking north towards the sea beyond solitude/dawnstar.In fact, whenever i can see the coast from anywhere in skyrim i can see this bug.It must be linked to 'reflect sky' in the launcher because unticking that box stops it, but then water looks rubbish. Anyone know why this happens and how i can fix it without turning off all water reflections.
thanks

im using the latest driver on gtx 560 ti 1gb. Everything but shadows are set to ultra and it's pretty much locked at 60fps, so i don't understand the problem.

...oh and i have the amazing flickering mountain glitch. Funny how i played this game on xbox 360, a 6 year old piece of c**p for over 60 hours without any of this s**t.

Hard to say, could be driver bugs or just a bug with the PC version.

thats the sky....looks good most of the time but in certain places/angles it looks bad...just turn off the SKY reflection (like bethesda did for default) and leave all other reflections on.
In the INI you can also have explosions reflect. ....bReflectExplosions=1 added to the skyrim.ini . So I take one away but give one back...lol

Tis a bug...When viewed from far above you can see it is clouds that make it pulse...

It only happens when you detach the camera from the player (go to 3rd person view or ride a horse). The further you zoom out the camera the angle at which sky reflection is lost increases. To me it looks like a bug that angle of camera vector is actually taking a player angle instead of camera angle so textures from cube maps are not reflected back properly.

Any new ideas on this? I made a video of my experiences with it.

Would love a fix if anyone has managed one (besides simply disabling sky reflections, which I've already done.)
