Either some image collector for the BBC decided to have a laugh, or somebody used a search engine to find an image when they had no idea what said image looked like.

'Google.....UNSC logo.....'

Not the first time for poor old Auntie, last year as part of a piece to do with the Battle of Britain on their website, they had a photo at the top of the webpage with pilots lined up at their fighters. Only problem? They were stood in front of American aircraft that wouldn't enter service until a year or two later.

They made some mistake during a documentary about Gadaffi and instead of the "Video footage", they showed some ArmA 2 gameplay.

Maybe the UN Security Council should just adopt it as their own? :P

Yeah i got that linked to me, and first i thought was, they didnt have an archived image and someone did an internet search for United Nations Security Council, same as United Nations Space Command, or typed in UNSC and typically it'll be HALO as the first hit.

Latest gaffe was using some old photo of unpleasantness in Iraq to document the current unpleasantness in Syria. The quality of BBC News has gone south in recent years though.

All that aside, I'd quite like the UNSC emblem used as the new Masterchef logo.

I remember that. A lot of it comes down to 'researchers' not checking where the stuff they provide the production teams comes from. And since it isn't the production teams job to check things since the researchers are supposed to do it.....

I do remember some of the promo images for Fallout 3 (Just after Beth had released said images) appearing in some papers (At least here in the UK) as part of an exclusive into a collection of Al Qaeda propaganda images that had sufaced. (All were images from the Fallout 3 promos or taken from movies)

The big shot of the shattered DC cityscape with the ruined Capitol Building in the centre appeared with the headline, 'Al Qaeda image shows nuked Washington DC'

That one caused a few red faces.
