Way to go, media. Another school shooting - Only this one is

Post » Fri Jan 11, 2013 10:35 am

According to reports so far one student was wounded (no concrete info on the severity yet) and one in custody after a shooting at a high school in California.

As always, my thoughts go out to the family of the victim. Hopefully the injuries sustained were not life threatening.

http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/10/us/california-school-shooting/

Why, however, isn't this plastered over every single news outlet out there like the Connecticut shooting? Is it because it's not sensational enough? Because not enough people died?

Or is it because the media cannot blame gun control laws (of which California has some of the strictest in the country) or "assault rifles" (preliminary reports state that a shotgun was recovered).

You are correct in your assumption.
The only reason they made a big deal of the connecticut shooting was to prevent citizens from being armed for more than just a robber breaking in. Because of the high death count, they found an obvious scapegoat, automatic firearms.

This "shooting" didn't seem to be something for big news though, considering that no one died, and people get shot everyday somewhere in the country :P

I think we should ban high schools, because they obviously lead to school shootings.

That's good ol 'murica for you.
They don't care about what actually happened, the whole media just reports on things based on how much $$$ they can get out of it.

I'm actually surprised its not on being exploited by the news.

Well even if they do/did, I'm sure gun control/video game violence will be brought up for the billionth time. Instead of talking about that crap, how about we talk about the mental health of these people doing it. I'm sorry, but neither of those things need to be talked about. The mental health of these people is much more of an issue in my opinion.

I think we should ban high schools, because they obviously lead to school shootings.

You got that from the comments of the story :P didn't you?

Lol.
Yeah there's no solution to things like shootings, they will continue happening, even if they aren't soon after each other.

Like stated, they don't care about the event. The gov just wants excuses to do as they wish, and media is no better, all they care about is the money. Not necessarily every reporter or such per say, but the people at the top just want the money.

The solution is to help these nuts, keep them away from the streets of public society. Disarming them does nothing, they can always just rearm themselves, lol

I like the ones where no one dies, because people usually have some humour talking 'bout it.

This isn't about gun politics. This is about media sensationalism.
