Include weapon / armor skins.
This would allow a character to have a specific "look" from level 1 to Cap, be able to find and use new items yet retain a desired appearance.
Have the ability to turn weapons / armor in to skins. There are times I like the look of lower level gear but because of stats I have to wear stuff I might not find appealing or doesn't fit my character's persona.
Plus if there comes a time when the game becomes micro transaction, skins would be a big seller and you would already have it ready to go, reducing future production costs.
Just add a tab on the "Character" UI that would look nearly the same with all the equipment slots that effect appearance.
An armor / weapon editor / creator would also go a long way. Or it could be fused with crafting professions (if there are any). Although this track would be more intensive to implement than the above mentioned skins.
Star Wars The Old Republic (MMO) has had great success with blank (no stats) view-able items where you put stat items in to it for a max return of individuality and combat effectiveness flavored to play style.
So Vote YES to skins! Say no to shirts....
