Weapon Involvement and Immersion

Hello. This is my first post! Great to be on the forum

The title may be very confusing, and I apologize for that, but let me explain what this means: As we know ESO has a left click-right click system similar to that of Skyrim. My question is how much are we involved with combat? Do certain weapons have larger reach? Do we aim with the bow like Skyrim? Things like that.

Here's a scenario: I have a spear and shield (I know there hasn't been a spear since Morrowind, but this is an example). My opponent has a small dagger. Will you be able to strike at a much greater distance, will it keep him at bay or can you just charge through? Will you be able to use the spear effectively in close range?

Here's my final look at it: How does the shield work? Do you move it yourself to block the shot or does just holding it simply make you receive less damage?

I would love it if there's more immersion in fighting as it would take more skill. The use of shield and weapon for strategy would be great outside of just having better armor and holding the block button and then just randomly swinging. Thanks for all of your input!

P.S. Wouldn't it be awesome if ESO had a spear?

Welcome to the forums!
I'm not sure about your topic, maybe someone else is more knowledgeable.

Unless anyone here got a chance at the Hands On demo back in October I think it was, there is pretty much no way to know the answers to your questiong unfortunately. The thing the developers keep repeating in the various interviews out there is they want you focused on the game world and not the interface and I don't think that spears are in ESO though I could be wrong about that too.
