Post » Thu Oct 17, 2013 5:48 am

This worries me, This implies i wont be able to control the look of my weaponry unless its possible to stop leveling it up.

No, the weapon itself doesn't change it's look. What it means is if you have a level 1 Orcish sword and a level 50 Orcish sword (two completely different items) that they will look completely different from each other. The level 1 sword will have a very basic look to it, while the higher level swords will look different.

Weapons don't "level" they are just assigned a level. So one might be level 1 and you get another that is level 2.

No, 99.99% sure he meant a lvl 1 sword will look one way and then a different lvl 50 sword will look another way. Pretty much like it is in every game like this.

I think it meant more that there are higher level materials (iron, steel, etc?) that look different, and then there are different styles (orcish, elven, etc?) that also look different, and the combination of the two end up in various styles.

Thats what i said i thought. Say i have a level 1 orc sword. I use it a bunch and it becomes level 15. Now suddenly it is supposed to change it's appearance magically?

I can understand if you smith a better weapon for it too look different. But it doesn't make sense for the weapon to change its own appearance.

Read my post, weapons don't level. They are assigned a level. So if you have a level 1 sword and use it till you hit level 50 that sword will ALWAYS be level 1.

 Ok, i understand now. Weird... I do like this though. I hated how in past games a the same weapon can only cut butter while a one with the same appearance can 1sk.

Should be nothing stopping you from using a lower level weapon than what your allowed, if it looks the way you want it. I can't see them forcing a weapon level up.

Thing is, if you like the LOOK of a lower level weapon, it would hurt to have to change it out for a statistically better, but fugly, more powerful weapon. There may be a way to change the appearance of a weapon --- many MMOs let you change the appearance of items into that of another item you have, so you could preserve a look you liked --- but failing that, I just dread being forced to ditch one weapon for another whose looks I do not like.

For example, I might have a rustic vibe for my character with patchwork looking armor and a bow with splinters and leather straps dangling off it and I LIKE the look.... but then I find a better bow that looks like some clockwork contraption, all shiny and sleek with a glowing energy string or something ridiculous.... I'd hate to lose the look I liked. If they don't, somehow, allow us to change the appearance of items, though, I'd eventually be forced to "upgrade" to the weapon that broke the idea of my character (if I wanted to be pragmatic, anyway).
