Weapon Rack Help - Weapons Are Placed Elsewhere

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:14 am

I am hoping to get some help with setting up a weapon rack. I've spent the past hour or so trying to get one to work in a house, but the results thus far have been unexpected. I started off by looking at an existing rack, and then replicated (not copy/paste) that to my house. I also found the info on the CK wiki (http://www.creationkit.com/Additional_Prefabs), but there's not much to see there at the moment.

The behavior I am seeing when I am in the game and activate the rack is that the weapons are placed elsewhere, and not in the rack. Sometimes the weapons will appear over to the side and floating in the air. Other times the weapons are dropped on the floor just inside the entrance to the house. Weird!

I have placed three racks and three corresponding activators. They are all doing the same thing regardless of the kind of weapon I attempt to place in them.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I had this issue as well, and I'm not sure exactly what the fix was in my case, I had too many things that i corrected at once. (i had given up on the prefab and tried to build my own based on the player home examples.)
But there is an issue with rotation, and probably snapping to angles. Try turning snapping off and giving the set a rotational nudge.

In my case, the activator ended up facing backwards. Move the activator shape away from the rack, and select the rack itself. You can see the black line drawn to show the relationship, it terminates with a little arrow at the activator. If you can't actually see the arrow, rotate the activator 180 degrees, this arrow should point to the "back" of it.

Thanks for the reply throttlekitty. I checked my setup and I found that I did have the activator facing the wrong direction. However, for some reason the arrow and connector line are not black, but rather green. Any idea why?

EDIT: Check that, the arrow may be yellow. It's weird - the line seems to change between green and yellow depending on what's behind it and the angle at which I'm viewing it. But anyway, it's definitely not black.

I've figured out the black line/arrow issue. Apparently that's tied to the keyword selected on the Linked Ref and I either forgot to add that or perhaps hit cancel when I did it. Anyway, I'm still having the same issue with the weapons being placed in the two other spots. Still looking for additional suggestions on what else to try in order to get it working correctly.

I was having the same problem weapons being placed in mid air next to the rack etc. To finally get it to work I did the following steps.

Place a weapon rack activator and weapon rack trigger (you can also do the rack ends but they are just for the look).
Make sure they are both facing the same angle (check the z rotational value to make sure).
Link the rack to the trigger and vice versa (make sure you key word them properly as well - look at the preexisting ones to be sure).
Rotate them ever so slightly so they aren't at an exact 90 degree angle (eg I rotated mine by one increment - it's largely unnoticeable).

Assuming you do all that it should work.

I have my weapon rack working but if I rotate it 90 degrees it hangs the weapons upside down, put it back and its fine.

Any ideas what is going on?
