2H weapons and fists

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 7:26 am

I am here to ask whether 2h weapons and using fists will be actually useful in Skyrim. In Oblivion 2H weapons gave a very small boost in damage for losing a shield, in Skyrim with spells now being in offhand I was wondering how good the 2h weapons would be. Also hand to hand wasn't that great in Oblivion either and was wondering if that was changing in Skyrim as well.

Theres no skill for h2h in Skyrim. So, it isn't advisable to use them :P

As for 2h weapons, they do more damage...and you can block with it.

Except multiple previews said that the hand-to-hand combat was quite satisfying, and there's a Heavy Armor perk that will increase your damage significantly.

OK, thats good news on h2h combat, but what about 2h weapons, in Oblivion 2h Deadric claymore gave 2 more attack damage than the longsword (which seemes pretty insignificant at the loss of attack speed and loss of a sheild, which you could get potent enchantments on). This was even more significant because loss of attack speed weakened damaging weapon enchantments, putting the damage difference % wise even less. I was wondering if they could have larger enchantments put on them or if they were just generally stronger.

I used 2-handed weapons in Oblivion for their reach as opposed to their damage. You could beat down on a shield user and they couldn't touch you.
