Weird fuzziness?

For some reason, this randomly occurred while I was doing an NCR quest. I played around with the options and got no dice.

The fuzzy/foggy graphics make it extremely hard to navigate or shoot. Indoors, it's practically pitch black.

No, I am not running it on a low resolution.

Try turning off depth of field in the advanced options before you start the game.

It shouldn't look that way, but maybe turning it off will make the game quit screwing up.

If that doesn't work turn off some of the other options. It won't hurt anything and if it doesn't work you can just turn them back on.

Other than that... Does your character have a crippled head, or did he OD on some drugs?

I already tried that setting and others, too, no dice.

My character doesn't take drugs at all and what from what I checked on the Pipboy, all my limbs are perfectly fine.

Note that this weird foggy effect didn't show up until after I arrived at my destination via fast travel.

Hhm, not what I was expecting. I had an issue where the game was bright and vibrant but as soon as I walked up the the door to NV and the roboot approaches it got a washed out look. (Could have be described as kinda fuzzy, but not after comparing your SS. Washed out seems to be more accurate in comparison.)

I simply soldiered on and it went away. Maybe your issue will to after time. Or has it been persistent for awhile?

P.S.

It took about 10 minutes of play before it corrected itself on a transition load into the NCR base.

Well, for me, I've actually finished 3 quests and it's still not gone away. I guess it might after some time, but just how much time is the problem. I was having a blast with the game and I'm worried that this is going to kill the experience for me (and actually, it is. It's bloody annoying and I just wish someone would fix it or have it just go away already).

I am also experiencing this.

I found that earlier saves are not effected, which made me think it was all the chems or something.

I cant remember what I was doing when it happend, but I think it came on suddenly.

Would really like to know either way caused it.

I'm going to have to either go back, or put it down until it's fixed ( if it's a bug ) or I know how to avoid it in the future, becuase it is not playable in this state.

Your idea about chems is a good one. Try popping some mentats or somethign similar and wait for the the effect to wear off. It might clear it out.

Sure your not playing hardcoe mode ?

Usually a fuzziness or blurred vision here and there is a sign that you need food, sleep. or water....

I had the exact samething happen when I entered a cave and then exited the cave at the other end. I didnt notice it at first cause it was night time. So, the way I fixed it was to go back to the cave entrance and enter, then turn around and exit. This fixed the blurr/fuzzy problem. The cave where it happened to me at is the NCR outpost called Camp Guardian, east of Valut 34, east of Bitter Springs Recreation Area. Also, one thing to note, at least on my PC anyway, is that as soon as I enter the cave it is pitch black. If I take a few steps forward into the cave it lights up again. I think this is the issue/bug because if you travel all the way through the cave and exit at the other end, you will have the blurr/fuzzyness with the screen.

I think I can actually help on that. I think the bug is actually location-specific.

It didn't start happening to me until I left the REPCONN facility headquarters. I might check that out and see if it fixes it, as well as trying the mentats solution posted above.

Also, a note for anyone who has this bug. The biggest give-away is lingering black smoke indoors in perfectly illuminated light (not entirely sure, though, would like someone to confirm on this).

Okay, neither the traveling nor the mentats trick worked. =\

So I'm pretty much stumped as to how this occurred and how to get rid of it.

Wandering round the wasteland at night. Killed a couple of animals in VATS (probably getting the annoying close up vaporizing cut scenes) then the night got very dark (I have the Friend of the night perk) and fuzzy. Midday sunlight is dark, dark places are pitch black, everything is out of focus. Tried everything I can think of and the only thing that gets rid of it is going back to save game the latest of which is 6 hours of play ago.

Gees this game is buggy. Killing things trying to go through various VATS/vaporizing effects to see if I could reset the problem I just got caught pick pocketing an ash pile - same old fallout bug. Had a trader hat in my inventory, put it in a container and another two trader hats suddenly appear in my inventory - same old inventory/container bugs going back to oblivion......

I tried some more and it looks like this bug is a 'stuck' ImageSpaceModifier, probably one that is supposed to time out and didn't get removed or got a stupidly long timeout.

From the console entering ToggleEOFImageSpace or "SetImageSpaceModifiersEnable 0" disables whatever is causing this problem but also disables other visual effects.

Thank you so much, it helped a lot. Sure, it totally kills the lighting, but at least I can actually see (and play) the game now.

Hopefully this'll be fixed soon.

Well, I hope that they address this bug as I have the 360 version. Won't be typing anything in the console.

I'm pretty sick of having to save this game every 5 minutes just in case some horrible bug destroys my experience.

At the time being, I just got this bug, and I hadn't saved in some time. I tried restarting the machine, fast traveling, even reloading the auto save only works for like 10 seconds before it happens again.

I loved Fallout 3. My first playthrough lasted upwards of 300 hours. I even bought all of the DLC. The whole New Vegas experience just feels to me like they should have had an extra 6 months to QA it. If players have to rewrite code just to get the game to work properly, something is horribly wrong.
