All the classes except destruction are awful.

Well I am going to be using a warrior mage. Heavy armor, one handed weapon, destruction, conjuration, restoration

So alteration is not on my priority list any more lol.

Alteration is still a good school. Passive and pre-emptive damage mitigation with perks and the skin spells are quite valuable for a mage in robes.

I'd rather take Enchanting and Smithing than Alteration. Talos damns it.

IMHO, alteration is the most important school for a mage. there's no way you're surviving on a non-new player difficulty without casting alteration spells.

Meanwhile restoration is completely unnecessary thanks to potions.

Well I just kind of wish there was more cool utility to in. I would like to be able to walk on water, and do some other cool stuff, but oh well.

Alteration still looks good to me if only because the perks are close to essential for an unarmoured character
I am annoyed at how many spell effects we've lost though but Alteration, Conjuration and Illusion have all suffered there

Well, to be fair, all schools but destruction seem to be a bit lacking. It is almost like they invested most of their efforts on destruction and forgot that people actually use magic for other purposes as well. Alteration is okay in comparison to the other schools. It got some new nice effects such as the shield and transmutation. Illusion lost the most IMO, and it's unfortunately the school I picked up for my thief. :(

So far for me, Conjuration has been absolutely amazing, perhaps better than Destruction.

Finding it quite hard to level up Alteration if I'm honest though, barely use Oakflesh because it doesn't seem to do much, and the only other Alteration spell I have is Candle Light.

A combination of both is my preferred approach. If I would heal all my damage taken in combat with just potions, I would run out of them way too fast.

It seems on par with the other lackluster spells. Alteration is the armor school with a couple other spells kind of lame IMO, but most of the schools of magic are lame this time around. But hey they look flashy and cool and for most people that is all that matters.

It's my highest school. Just cast your skinbuffs every time they run out and it'll level in no time.

I think I will be doing all my healing with Restoration, and using potions for magical buffs that I wouldn't otherwise have access to.

Destruction, Enchant, Restoration look like my favorite. Restoration for those good perks, shock spells and wards to kill enemy mages, and enchant for obvious reasons :turtle:

Really? Which ones stand out to you, I liked the magicka regen one and the 250HP insta heal once a day sounds kind of cool, but outside that I was kind of underwhelmed.

I'm going to guess Telekinesis is just a long-range pickup spell again? :(

Necromage and Recovery are two of the best perks in the game.

They both sound good, but I don't have the % necromage helps you or the % magicka regen enchants help you so it is hard to gauge how good they are. But 2-3 perks in a field of blah doesn't really inspire me, though respite would be awesome for battle mages and other combat hybrids.

Definitely changed my mind on alteration. Was going to fully perk that tree, now I think I'll stick with the Lord standing stone and rely on my shield (spellshield build).

I may get dualcasting, but that'd be it.

Restoration perks do look nice. Particularly the magicka regen, respite, and the ward absorb.
