[REQ] "Well fed" bonus

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 5:57 pm

I know there's a thread or two about hardcoe modes similar to that of New Vegas, but all I want is a simple passive bonus for having eaten food (especially cooked) recently, similarly to how the Well Rested bonus encourages sleeping. I don't want any penalties for not eating, really. Just a purpose for all this food I'm picking up.

Not sure if this would require the creation kit.

Feel free to mod this if you feel like it's a good idea -- I'd be grateful. I can see people might have different priorities though!

cheers

I imagine this would be best served through a 'discount' on stamina-based actions. e.g. Running costs less fatigue per second, power attacks also cost less fatigue, and et cetera.

I think this is a great idea. My characters always eat in the morning and at night, and it would be nice for there to be a purpose for it aside from pure RP and uselessly low health regain. And all the food looks so GOOD in this game! How can you not eat it? Haha.

I think it is a good idea, boost to stamina regen or something. Or mayby a detriment to stamina if you ate to much

If you do this, you might want to only give the bonus for pleasant meals? In fact, you might want to prohibit some of our current eating habits.

(If I eat nine dozen potatoes in the fraction of a second between getting hit for the thirteenth and fourteenth injury in a battle, I do not think that that should mean that I am "well fed". The meal would be high in carbs, and the ambiance would leave something to be desired...)

Yeah, that's what I was getting at with the "especially cooked" parenthesis. As you say eating raw/uncooked food should probably not grant the bonus, or maybe just a reduced "Fed" one.

I'd like it if eating raw meat had a change of getting you sick. :)

I think there should be no bonus for eating uncooked food, and there can even be penalty for eating raw meat (with some kind of disease).

It would also be nice to eat what we see with one button, so we don't have to go into the inventory to find it. I just want to eat it right when I see it.
I think a 5/10% stamina recovery bonus would be nice, depending on the food.

But if you replace the nine dozen potatoes with nineteen grilled chicken briasts and a cabbage you still are not going to have time to chew your food properly if you eat them in the middle of a fight. And eliminating the cabbage would not increase the quality of the diet.

Not to mention you are breaking every world record for any eating contest. That's over 100 potatoes! Even if you could eat 100 potatoes without vomiting or causing severe internal damage, doing it in a fraction of a second (technically less since time freezes when your menu is open) is just absurd. I agree with you that it would be nice to have a way to discourage and even disable some of the eating habits the game allows. Actually not only does it allow it, it encourages it. It's an easy way to skill up your alchemy.

But that may be getting too detailed/complex, and away from the OP is looking for. It would be nice to have meals that give you different bonuses, as someone else alluded to, but I think that should remain meal specific. I do like the idea of having a bonus of some sort for eating meals. I don't think it should be too large of a bonus though. But then I'd also like to see a penalty for not eating enough, or at all. Of course that also starts going towards a realism mod which again might not be the extent the OP is looking for.
