Werewolf Models

Post » Fri Nov 08, 2013 10:58 am

Dear Devs

The werewolf models are coming along very well! =D Here some concerns that I have about them:

1) Is every race / gender uses the male model? Like Skyrim did? =( I hope not!!!! It will be cool, if a Female PC have a Female werewolf model and a Male PC will have Male werewolf model.

2) Can the players mod the model (a local mod) so someone who want a different model, they can use a local mod? to change the fur color, eyes, ears etc etc

3) To take this idea down the road a few more steps:

A] Will different races have their version of Lycanthropy? aka Kahjiit have werecat, Argonians have werecrocodie, etc

B] In the werewolf model, will have model some aspects of the host race?

For example, my Khajiit turns into a werewolf, will her werewolf model have some feline aspects to it? If an Argonian turns into a werewolf, will the model will have some lizard like aspects instead of feline?

1. as far as we know, yes they are the same

2. nope, cannot work with it being an MMO

3. as far as we known no and no. Personally, i HIGHLY doubt it.

They CANNOT have visual mods at all.

Also, that is what YOU want, not everyone agrees with you, IMO i could care less.

I tend to agree that it would be nice for some effort to be put forth into making female werewolves unique. I kinda doubt we will get to see such a thing, but it would be nice. I might as well also say it now before someone accuses me of it, but I don't mean I want a unique model with briasts and such. I just mean a model that is unique and slightly different than the male iteration

I mean after all we all know that female vampires will obviously retain a different look from their male counterparts. Even though it's a vastly different situation, it would be nice if female werewolves could also have a slight difference.

Which type of Lycanthrop you turn into is dependent on the disease you contract, not the race you are. Anyone who gets the werewolf strand becomes a werewolf. Anyone who gets the werecroc strand becomes a werecroc.

Sounds reasonable to me. This wouldn't be all that hard to implement if the devs decided to do this.

To be pedantic, given that 'werewolf' is from the old english (well, the first part at least) meaning 'man wolf', and 'lycanthrope' derives from the greek for the inverse, 'wolf man', it should be the 'man' part that changes, not the 'wolf'. Thus, a Khajiit catching the same strain should really be called a Feliwolf or something. Maybe Lycangata.

Tell me which one is male:

Ya I'm aware of that. I find it odd too.

But I would also tell you that latin doesn't exist in the Elder Scrolls universe. The name means what it mean in the context of that world, not ours.

unfair pics view points! In werewolf form, they stand on their hind legs, so that one can see their chest and other areas, thus one can tell the differences. So ask the question again with out leading the question... so get two wolf pics from the side POV, also one can not judge the size from the pics, but females are usually smaller then males also....

An option may be to instead of designing just one model of the werewolf to have a few different models so there is some variation, also the more you fight as a werewolf, I think it would be a cool addition to gain some 'Battle scars' as such, perhaps scars or scratches on the chest or back or similar.

Fairly rotten cop-out. That could apply to any of the thousands of English words used too. Pretty sure people'd get annoyed if the devs decided that 'orange' suddenly meant 'black'.

Well, werewolves...
As far as I see they have to offer a lot more than one single model for everyone.
Not because of there has to be difference in general but because Zenimax allways point out the "customization this" and "immersion that" parts of The Elder Scolls Online. So if there really is only one werewolf and one vamire model, it's like a straight-arm punch in the face of every fan who want's customization and/or immersiv gameplay!

But of course they _could_ have. There absolutely is no reason why they couldn't.

All graphics, this is UI, textures, FX, and character models only exist on the client PCs.
Servers know nothing about any graphics.
Therefor player A and player B could have entirently different models and textures but still be able to play on the same server together.

It's just nobody would want you to repaint their art!

Well if we think about it most felines or K9s females don't have briasts unless they are pregnant or feeding a litter. Normally the only way you can tell which is which by looking for the male parts so if that is what you want to see I hope they don't change a thing lol

Come on man, you're better than resorting to examples like that.

To the bolded part, I certainly hope it does. For example, there has been discussion on the lore forum about the use of the word "hell" in TES. As far as we know, there is no "hell" in the world or in any religion. But its used a few times as in, "Wulfharth blasted him to Hell." It could be that there is a Hell in Nordic religion, but I prefer to think its a just a quirk of translation.

Who else has said that....?

Also, why would there not be? The disease exist in the lore. And since this is an MMO, I'd expect them to gobble up all the content available and spit it out us hungry little chicks (not sure why that anology came to me....)

I suspect were-crocodiles and were-vultures will be part of a content update, if they aren't already in the game (don't think they are.)

They are not, and it seems unlikely they would add them considering they are such a small part of lore that few even know about.
