Werewolf: The Mists of Death - Day 6

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 4:53 am

November 7th, 1850 - Continued

Finally, some ray of hope in all of this! But let me go back to the beginning. Depsite his protests that he was trying to help us, a bunch of folks decided that it was high time that Jebediah Springfield (ClintostheGreat) died. So, just like with Gor'badd, they put a rope around his neck and looped it over a strong branch of the old tree in the square. Ol' Jeb warned us we would pay for this as he stood on the stool, but Glenn Matthews (Mighty Racoon) wanted to hear none of it, so he kicked the stool out. Jebediah's body swung in the air for a few moments, then began to swell and sprout black fur. His neck became so thick it burst the noose and he was free.

Immediately, the beast that was Jebediah turned on Glenn, and with his wicked claws, tore him open from navel to throat. He would have killed more of us, but there came from the crowd a veritable hail of gunfire. Soon the beast was riddled with bullets and slumped to the ground. With a final keening whine, Jebediah died. In death, his beastly features faded, until it looked as if he were simply sleeping. Were it not for the evidence of our memories, there would have been nothing to mark his transformation. We have paid a terrible price, but now we've made them pay as well.

We tried, once again, to search the flophouse, but another fight broke out. A lantern got knocked over, and the whole place burnt to the ground. Those of us who were staying there will sleep up at the mission tonight. It is with a quiet hope I that I will take to my bed this night.

November 8th, 1850

Last night was punctuated by the most terrible howls. It seemed to everyone as if they were coming from the saloon, but nobody had the heart to get closer to investigate. Everyone was still alive when the morning came, but it would seem that all our good work is undone. We shall have to act quickly now, if we are to save ourselves.

Drop_Dead

Name: Sir Henry Chandler The III
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Physical Description: As fit as a fiddle; He stands tall at 6'4, weighing about 170 pounds. He wears a bowler cap styled hat, a monocle, and a elegant suit.
Occupation: Gentlemen and Entrepreneur
Possessions: A deck of cards, a Colt .45, some ammunition, and his trusty heirloom Chandler cane.
Personality: Witty, clever, and charming. He is an excellent card shark and rarely leaves the table, unless it is to become more well acquainted with one of his many lady friends. He tends to joke around when under extreme amounts of stress, and most people respect him for his ability to both win thousands of dollars in one game of cards, then joke about losing it all in one night and begin fresh once more.

History: Henry was born into nobility. His family name was known quite well throughout America, as mostly every heir to the Chandler throne was a politician of some sort. Thus, they had strong amounts of pull in the American government. Growing up, his parents tried to give Henry was their's could, or would, not. They gave him choice; He was free to do as he pleased, and thus, ended up the worst thing the family could every dream one of their own becoming; A slacker. Or, at least their terms. While Henry grew up, he sharpened his skills by challenging nearby noble boys to a game of gold fish; The winner earning the others toys. Fast forward about twenty five years later, and hes still doing the same thing. Only now, hes playing poker, and instead of toys, he earns himself a fair bit of coin and wench's as far as the eye can see.

Exorince

Name: Bernard Black
Age: 38
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Physical Description: 179cm with greasy black hair and a rather unpleasant permanent expression on his face. He's wearing dark trousers and a dirty old coat.
Occupation: Bookshop owner
Possessions: some money,a bag of tobacco, an old smoking pipe, the little book of calm and a few delicious coasters.
Personality: Grumpy and pessimistic, Bernard is rather misanthropic man who would like nothing more than to be left alone with his books. His neurotic behaviour and foul mood makes him come off as anti-social but in fact he really likes a lot of people. Like people who sell tobacco and alcohol.
History: Bernard grew up in England where he ran a very successful bookshop until he decided one day to take a vacation and he eventually ended up in America. Unsure how or why he was there he decided that it was too much work to go back to England so he wandered around until he accidentally stumbled into an abandoned building in Crayon. A few years have passed since then and Bernard is still not quite sure how he got there but he's very pleased that the local population has very little interest in books.

Gamgee

Name: Clyde Obannion
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Physical Description: 6 feet precisely. Ratty and starved looking Native American, though this belies his agility and precise blows.
Occupation: Refugee/Outlaw/Sharpshooter
Possessions: 1816 Musket, Colt Walker (US Army Revolver), broken minature dream catcher (slightly larger than a coin), and a self converted native american knife that can be used as a bayonett.
Personality: A loner by nature, he doesn't like to talk to people. He has a big problem with US law officials, doesn't trust them. Having to survive on his own and evade capture means he's a good thinker no matter what pressure.
History: In 1830 he was forced out of his home to be relocated to another reserve. Due to the political machinations of the US government to put pressure on their chief many of his people died because they weren't traded any food, medicine, or supplies they needed. The last of his family and particular village he decided to teach the US Inspectors a lesson when they arrived the next spring to see if they were going to sign the treaty. He set an ambush for the worker and his small retinue, claiming one of the muskets as his own. One of the soldiers survived to tell the tale, and from then on he's been a drifer avoiding the law. His travels took him south at the rumors of a war, he was hoping no one would notice him there. Or know who he is due to the distance, maybe work as a soldier for hire. A texas ranger recognized him from a really old out of date wanted poster, he killed the man and took his revolver. Disposing of the body and the poster, so far it's been years and no one is any the wiser. He did make some cash during the war as a mercenary, and now he was almost ready to leave and wander somewhere else. Residents around the town know him as the silent person who likes to keep trouble makers out of town, though it's only a matter of time until he's gone one day. He swears by his old musket, and given his impressive track record during the war his superiors couldn't care he used such an antiquated rifle design. Though some had suspicions of its illiegal aquisition.

I Do Not Know

Name: Jim Jackson
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Physical Description:5'9" Average weight and build. Dirty white T-shirt, gun belt loaded with ammo, pants, boots
Occupation: Ranch hand
Possessions: Revolver, ammo, worn leather gloves, rope, large knife
Personality: Strong personality. Always gets in arguments when someone else doesn’t agree with him, even when proven wrong. Prefers to take orders, but if something gets out of control, he’ll step in. Cool headed when under pressure.

History: Jim was born in a small border town in America. He was told that his father fled from the US before Jim was born, but was never told why his father fled. His mother died when he was 15 and left him quite a bit of money, so Jim decided to move to Mexico to look for his father. A few times Jim came very close to finding him, but was always a little late, just a few days in one case. After a few years of searching, he ran out of money and took up a job at a ranch near Crayton. One day after making enough money, Jim plans to start the search again.

Indicator

Name: Llewelyn Moreau
Age: 42
Gender: Male
Physical Description: Around 5’9” and quite skinny Llewelyn doesn’t stand out very much. His hair is beginning to grey and his clothing seems a bit dated but otherwise there is nothing terribly remarkable about him.
Occupation: Farmer
Possessions: His father’s bible and cross, a shovel he never seems to part with, some seeds in his pocket and a small amount of money.
Personality: Isolationist, Llewelyn does not work well with others. He has a short fuse and little patience for doing things any way other than his own. When interacting with others he does his best to keep communication to a minimum and quickly becomes chippy if forced to engage socially with others for extended periods of time.
History: The son of one of the Jesuit missionaries, Llewelyn never adapted well to his father’s life. He instead became a farmer and has spent most of his life in privacy. He doesn’t bother his fellow villagers and for the most part they afford him the same respect. It is whispered by some that he is a bit strange, as he has no family and any man so isolationist is bound to gather a few rumors in a village so small. He is also a bogey man figure to the few children of the village. If he is aware of the way the village sees him he is either good at pretending to be oblivious or doesn’t particularly care about it.

Mr.E

Name: Consuela Salvadore
Age: 62
Gender: Female
Physical Description: 5 feet tall with a seemingly permanently crooked back, she wears a loose-fitting floor length pink dress and a fuzzy pair of sandals. Her hair is a glistening silver and despite looking wretched and infirm, her brown eyes seem to glow.

Occupation: Retired, formerly a medicine woman and cook.
Possessions: Around her neck is a leather necklace with an odd combination of wooden cross and several assorted teeth. A pewter container of salve that she claims soothes her joints. Her short wooden cane, a large handful of dried tobacco leaves that she enjoys chewing on, a jar of pimentos, and a carved bone flute that she hasn't played in years.

Personality: Curmugeonly sums Consuela up well - with early-onset dementia, she's both forgetful and somewhat aggressive. Her age and culture give her an inherent distrust of others and a boastful sense of tradition, though she often forgets just what that tradition actually is, so will often substitute a complete fabrication.
History: Consuela was born in Crayton (she called it Los Alvarez, though she seems to be the only one) before the war and influx of white folk. Her father was a farmer and was intensely racist toward the white men, while her mother was a gentle woman and accomplished healer. Growing up, Consuela eventually took her talents from her mother and her personality from her father. It was her mother's death, 8 years ago, that seemingly cued her dementia.

Personality: Frank is a very conservative man and quiet. He's always been a strategist and sharp thinker.

Who knows what he saw in Sarah but she was the one for him. When they had enough money from their inheritance, they set off for California and restored an old, broken down vineyard.

History: No one knows where Mike came from, but what is known is that he is a master fencer (sword fighting that is), and as such dangerous with the rapier he carries. He is known to almost be supernaturally quick with any of his 6 pistols as well. He was trouble free, until one day he was shot when he was delivering mail.

Xrayman

Name: Martin Westbrooke
Age: 49
Gender: Male
Physical Description: About 5'10", and somewhat chubby. Wears a fine, gray double-briasted suit with a white shirt and purple ascot. Has a pair of black leather shoes and wears a brown leather hat.
Occupation: Traveling salesman
Possessions: A gold pocket-watch on a gold chain, a small hip-flask filled with high-quality bourbon, a silk handkerchief, a wooden cane, and a pamphlet advertising his product.
Personality: Boisterous and somewhat lewd (what one would expect from a salesman), however mostly kind-hearted. He handles pressure and crowds well; as a salesman, he has become accustomed to dealing with large, frantic gatherings of people
History: As a child, Martin was fairly secluded. Due to the dangerous nature of the area in which he lived, his well-meaning (although overprotective) parents kept him under a watchful eye. However, for much of his childhood he wanted to be a gunslinger from the many stories that he had heard. As he grew up, he realized that not only was this very dangerous, though due to his stature he really couldn't have done it anyway. He soon became enraptured by the methods used by traveling salesman to sell their otherwise ineffective product, and after toiling for many weeks, he brewed what he deemed a fairly tasty beverage that he decided he could sell as a cure-all. He purchased horses and a covered wagon, and spent many years traveling. Prior to the events of this game, he was traveling through the desert when a rattlesnake startled his horses and threw him from his wagon. With nothing more than what he had on him (aside from a small canteen of water, which he soon finished), he wandered for many days until he stumbled across a small town called Crayton.

OOC: Note - Mighty Racoon was killed because a vote from a Hangman tied the execution votes.

Gotta go to work. Will try to answer questions when I can.

It is as I suspected with Senors Springfield and Matthews. I wish I had some great insight to carry us on, but my vision is as shrouded as everyone else's. I wish our search of the flophouse could have been more fruitful... Is it possible to know, Senor Aces, who started the fighting last night?

I shall think upon our gunmen. There are likely clues we have yet to connect.

Right now I'll go with Alexander Ellington. He is really the only one I can picture as the gun wolf. He lives in the flophouse, is terrible under pressure, and he was quick to change his vote yesterday simply because a wolf claimed to be a sneak.

Si, Senor Rusk... He is at the top of my list, too. But I am having a difficult time choosing between him and Senor Jackson. Senor Jackson, after all, prefers to take orders and will not step in until things get out of control - which is very much what happened the first night. It's likely that some event from a later day will bring a greater case against one of the two.

I thought that, too. But the one thing that stands out is that Mr. Jackson owns rope. One of the required items for conversion was rope. Why would the leader demand another wolf go find an item that already belongs to a wolf?

You have a point, and it is a very good one, my amigo. I still have a nagging suspicion against Senor Jackson. I assume that the arrow found after Senor Legai's murder was fired at the gunman - three bloodied tools for 3 werewolves, after all. And if the arrow was removed and dropped right there, it seems likelier to me that it's by someone who handles himself well under pressure rather than terribly. And Senor Ellington describes himself as an excellent shot - and I think the shots missed the so-called 'critical organs' I keep hearing about by your white doctors.

And though it does not necessarily bear upon their guilt, Senor Ellington was the one to alert us to an outside presence in the flophouse, which did prove fruitful, while Senor Jackson was the one to kick the chair out from under Senor Al'Chem'st.

But I'd say that a lot of people can be excellent shots when practicin' on tin cans. Shootin' an actual person that is firin' back is a different story.

I'd say that our gun wielders fall into three categories:

Casual (Has a gun but does not really use it)

- Henry Chandler, smashin' things to pieces does not really appear to be his style. Though, if it were a different wolf that broke down the door than he could be the shooter. Voted to kill a wolf
- Charles Lambert, he is an interesting suspect because if my theory about the grammatical correctness of the note is worth much than he is a decent suspect. Did not vote to kill a wolf.

Occupational (Has a gun that is somewhat used in their job, but they are not excellent marksmen)

- Alexander Ellington, he claims to be good with a gun, but is also terrible under pressure. He is also a poor leader which could explain how the wolves have not been all that effective in their killings. Voted for a wolf but changed his vote soon after.
- Jim Jackson, he is a rancher and has probably shot animals but not humans. He will control a situation. But, he has rope. Voted for a wolf but changed his vote soon after.

Expert (Has a gun or guns and knows how to use them)

- Mike, has a ton of guns. Has killed a ton of people. Is a good planner. Has not spoken over the last few days.
- Sam, has a gun. Has killed a ton of people. Has rope. Helped make a case against a wolf and voted for him first for two days straight.

Another piece of evidence against Alexander, when the angel appeared the wolves tried to run around him. However, they never tried to fight the angel, suggestin' that they prefer to avoid conflict. Jim being cool under pressure might fit this, but he is a person that might actually fight the angel rather than run around it.

Sir Henry Chandler The III

You speak of fate like it is controlled by a singular force. Fate is all around us, my friend, and it takes many many forms.

Things are looking grave for us, Gentlemen. I suggest we buckle down and start working as a team, or else the wolfies will be picking us out of their teeth quite soon. I'll assist Jim and search the Saloon alongside him, everyone else is free to join us or make a better suggestion for a search.

I'm accused of being a wolf now? I should have expected, I mean we're all scared and so am I! I attempted to let you search my home to prove me not a wolf, but others prevented that. So, with that, I'll help search the Saloon with Jim and Henry. Mutters to himself Idiots, accusing me of a being a wolf? I will shoot the head off the next wolf we find. Stuff that wolf full and stick him on my wall.

I'm not sure who to trust anymore. We still need our flophouse wolf and I see that Mr. Jackson was so easily convinced to push his vote onto Glenn yesterday.

He has a gun and on the first night things were getting out of control and Jim Jackson had to step in to finish off poor Astah. Any other time, he prefers taking orders which is why the list of supplies was left for him. The only thing I can't explain is the rope...Why would the arch ask for extra rope? For now my vote sticks on Jim Jackson.

I'll help search the saloon also.

It innit anything personal friendo. I just don't want to die. I don't want more innocents to die. I want these monsters brought to justice for what they have done to our town. Looking at the facts, you have a gun. You live in the flophouse. You don't own rope and Jim does. It's a bit weak even I'll admit. But it makes no sense at all to send a man with rope to fetch more of it. So in the end, you're the man with the best case against him when we are facing down death.

Trust me, Llewelyn, when I say this. I'm not a wolf. I swear on my mother's and father's grave I'm not. I couldn't ever commit that kind of evil. Also, if I was a wolf, why would I help all of you search places that we stayed in?

That isn't going to convince me. Jedediah also said he wasn't a wolf. People lie. People don't like to die. Even if they were to become an unimaginable monster I imagine they prefer life to death. And lots of people helped search that place. Maybe you jumped in to distract us from your room? It doesn't matter, it's certainly no proof either way of your alliances.

Now you want to bring up Jebediah? Okay, tell me how I'm confused with a lieing, piece of [censored] wolf? You want to call me a wolf and send me to death? Great job, if I do die, you all will see how wrong you were if my body hangs from a rope. You all will lose a friend and a human.
