UNDERGROUND

And so, our story begins deep within the coal mines of the city, where two workers are about to uncover something that will change the course of Underground City’s history.. Forever
_____
“Hey, Phil, toss me the dynamite from the box,” One of the miners stated in a booming voice as he picked away at the rock. “No way, Mikey, boss said we ain’t allowed to use it yet. Could cause a cave in,” Phil responded. Mike shot the man his usual dirty look, the one which Phil knew meant he was ready to cause trouble. He sighed, then reached into the box next to him and tossed the dynamite. “Good boy,” Mike said. “Now, we can get all this mining done ten times quicker, and head on over to the pub for a couple of drinks,”
As Mike started placing the dynamite, a group of miners crossed paths with the duo, including Christi Romanov (Partypoison), Harry Stamper (8-Bit), and Noelle Callum (Mr. E). Noelle was just leaving alongside them when she noticed the two fumbling with the dynamite. “Hey, you guys wanna bring some bad ju-ju down on this place? The Boss-Man said we ain’t supposed to mess with the dynamite, ya hear?”
Mike ignored the women, while Phil tried to appease to her. “Its alright, Callum, Boss gave us permission. Will buy you a round of drinks at the pub in the few, alright?” The women looked the man up and down, and then nodded. “Yeah, alright. Just be careful now,”
She departed, heading on her merry way. As soon as she was out of earshot, Phil got to listen to an earful from Mike about the girl. “That [censored], always tryin’ to get in other people’s business, trying to be a good citizen and all that bull-sh*t,” He said, followed by several racist remarks under his breath. He lit the dynamite, then the two quickly ran for cover.
The explosion shook the entire cavern, but it did its job. The coal was littered all over the floor, and as the two smiled at each other, glad their work was done, they noticed something glowing further into the cavern. As they moved forward to investigate, an incredible feeling of wooziness and pain overcame them. They both fell to the floor, surrounded in a puddle of Green-Goop, and lost consciousness.

Two Weeks Later
Mayor Rodriguez stood at the front of City Hall, addressing a crowd of bustled inhabitants and journalists alike about his recent opening of the Coal Mines after the recent incident, that resulted in two miners being contaminated with what people assume to be a lethal virus.
“People, I assure you, my act to reopen the Coal Mines will not result in any more cases similar to those of Phillip and Michael. Both inhabitants are making a recovery, and..” Mayor Rodriguez was cut off by one intruding journalist, James Burge (Fighters), “Mayor, is it true that the sightings by the Graveyard were true? Have the infectees been hiding out over there during the night?” He shouted, quickly scribbling down notes as the mayor spoke. “The reports of our patients are completely..” He was cut off again, this time by Matt Hawk (I Do Not Know), “Is it true that random inhabitants in town have be displaying strange talents? Is it also true that the University also holding classes for these special inhabitants to help train their powers?” He asked, holding up a recording device.
“What kind of outrageous claim..” A flurry of cameras flashed in the Mayor’s eyes, and he found himself unable to speak. He shouted at the men and women below him, “This press conference is OVER!”
He retreated back into City Hall, locking the door behind him. Just as he prepared to head to his office, a sharp scream erupted through the air. His attention snapped back to the door, and he quickly unlocked it and ran outside to find two huge, furry beasts terrorizing the press conference, slaughtering men from left to right. He looked around with a sight of astonishment on his face, unsure of what to do until the local Executioner Ares (Commandant Oreo) came to the rescue, a huge War-Axe in hand. He slammed his axe into one of the wolves stomachs, sending him to the floor, and then followed up with a clean cut across the head.
“Now THIS is what I’m talking about!” He laughed as the other wolf lunged at him, attempting to avenge his fallen brother. His attempt was met with an axe to the face, and then he too fell to the floor. Ares stood proudly over his kills, axe in hand, as the the Mayor approached.
“My god.. Phillip.. And..” The Mayor muttered, horrified by what had just happened. He gazed around at the worried crowd, and decided that he needed to step up and calm their thoughts.
“The threat has been dealt with.. Please, citizens, return to your normal duties. A clean-up crew will come along shortly,” He stated, the crowd grudgingly obliging.
_____
And so, the citizens of Underground City continued on their day as normal. But really, in this city, what can be considered normal?
Just as the miners were getting off work and the local pub was being filled up, Whiskey Polenta (Wooly) started a fight with Ukko Joutama (Gorbad) over work ethics. Whiskey called Ukko a parasitic shopping mall assistant, and Ukko retorted by calling whiskey an alcoholic. The fighting was nasty, both sides taking several blows until Daniel Daxter (Xtrox), the local security officer, broke the fight up.
Over by the dart board, Alice Edvige (El Joe) was savagely beating Eric Molson (Might Racoon) at the game, without even a second thought after each throw, and quickly winning the twenty dollars they had bet. Eric cursed under his breath, forking over the money and joining his engineer buddies William Griffin (Thadeus) and Darren Giles (Northwind) in a booth, where they were currently in the prospect of checking out Christi Romanov (PartyPoision) as she bent over to pick up her dropped purse. William whistled at her, and he shot her a dirty look, shaking her head. Darren and Eric laughed, clanking their drinks together as she flipped him off. William shrugged it off, joining in on their clanking. The combination of their clanking caused a serious spill from each of their drinks, and Jay Wilson (Suffca) was forced to come over and clean it up, mumbling under his breath about the dang whipper-snappers and their clanking.
Nivek Htims (Frank the Bunny) and Jamie Gray (saintpatty) were tossing out drinks left and right at the bar to folks who started mumbling about the attack earlier in the day, making sure they were getting intoxicated enough to forget their problems and buy more drinks. They tossed a couple drinks Eithne Ní "Enya" Bhraonáin’s (Clintos) way, and sure enough she was singing her merry Celtic songs within minutes, and the whole mood in the pub lightened up.
In the Iron mines, construction foremen John Drake (Riverstyx) was watching over a couple of engineers as they built up a new piece of machinery that was supposed to extract the iron straight to the lift. Malistrone Bakerbarnes (Lightcrux) was assisting in supervising, and the two ordered the engineers around like there was no tomorrow.
At the University, Gordon Freeman (Xray) was teaching a physics lesson to a very inquisitive Luxe Ignis (Dalek) and "Alchemical" Al Berzite (Cecliff). That was, until Al began questioning the morals of teaching, which Mr. Freemen responded to in a calm and patient voice; however, their dispute turned into a full on argument, which caused Matt Hawk (I Do Not Know) to storm in, demanding they shut up so he can finish his article. The two quieted down, and he thanked them and continued working.
And the town bustled with life, most trying to forget the problems that were haunting the city. Some with alcohol, others with work. But the event earlier in the day was still racing through everyones mind; and it seemed that it still was not over.
Another scream, similar to the one earlier, could be heard all throughout the town. It shot through the air, and people knew what was happening; another attack by the beasts.
Mayor Rodriguez, who was currently discussing what had happened earlier with Eddie Carlyle (Kony), jumped at the sound. Him and Eddie sprinted from City Hall, and could hear more screams as the two arrived at the scene in front of the pub.
Three wolves had surrounded a seemingly innocent bystander, who none knew by name, and appeared to be preparing for an attack. One of the smaller wolves seemed to speak to the others, pointing at the women. The largest wolf of the group shook its head, looking around at the crowd they had stirred up. The smaller wolf, ignoring its brother, it charged at the women, and the the other small wolf followed suit. The first one stabbed its claws deep into the womens face, and the second one attempted to peel the women away from the other wolf and feed. The first wolf kicked the wolf away, causing a slight whine to emit from it. After the first wolf fed, it tossed the body toward the crowd, and howled, ready to strike once more.
The large wolf put its claws on the smaller one’s shoulder, and urged it to leave. As the whole fiasco took place, a few armed member in the crowd began pulling weapons and firing at the wolves, landing a couple shots. The wolves scattered, each heading in different directions and some killing a few bystanders in their way.
“[censored]! We need to go after them!” Shouted Eddie, who had begun to rally up some men from the crowd. “Yeah, lets chase ‘em! Teach ‘em a lesson in who to mess with!” Ares chimed in. As the crowd began to give chase, the Mayor stopped them. “No,” He stated, “We aren’t some angry mob of incompetent morons. If we give chase now, will find nothing, given the fact that these.. Creatures.. Can transform back to human at will. Will rampage all across town looking for them, and come up with nothing. Worst of all, will trample over whatever evidence of their presence we have,”
His statement brought ridicule from the crowd, but they continued to listen. “Me, my investigators here, and a few of you who are willing to help volunteer in the effort to track these beasts down, will begin a search tomorrow. I assure you, we will find them. Just please, head back to your homes. Curfew will commence soon. If you really want to help, show up tomorrow morning,”
The crowd, quelled by the mayor, agreed, and disbanded. The crime-scene was left untampered.
_____
A group of twenty-four arrived the next morning, just as the lights within the city began turning on. The Mayor and Investigator Eddie were on the scene. “What do you mean they were all killed in the night?! What happened?!”
As the members of the investigation team arrived, they listened in on what the two were talking about. “Sir.. Everyone in the city is dead. The wolves.. They snuck into each house at night, and just slaughtered the inhabitants,” He looked toward the crowd, “I’m guessing that these men and women are all that is left of Underground City,”
The mayor, turning to face the group, sighed. “Very well. Thank you all for.. Coming here, today. It seems that the wolves were quite busy last night, because it seems that everyone who currently isn’t in this group as of now.. Is presumed dead. My investigators have been going door to door all morning.. Just blood bath after blood bath,”
He sighed once more, then continued on. “But there is good news. The wolves who did all of this.. Well, they are among us right this moment. Any one of you could be the wolf. And its up to us, and Ares’s battle-axe here, to weed them out of hiding and execute them. My men have already gone over this crime-scene.. Each wolf went off in a different direction from where the women was slain, and were still trying to figure out which blood trail to follow. One leads into the iron mines, one into the Shopping Mall, and the last leads to the Miner Workhouse,”
He managed a crude smile, having hope in what little was left of his people, “Its up to you guys. You all saw the fight last night.. If you have any assumptions, speak freely. We need to track down these wolves.. Every little clue helps. So choose wisely where you want to search first.. Or who you wish to execute first..” The group looked around at each other, dirty looks being shot each way. They started speaking, and the Mayor anxiously waited as they decided on what to do.
