What are the new mini games in New Vegas?

Post » Wed Feb 02, 2011 3:36 pm

I am hoping that the lock picking and computer hacking is gone now or at least improved greatly. I hated them in Fallout 3 and believe there is no purpose for them to be in the game. I read that there will be card game mini games.

So besides the card game mini games, what mini games are their in New Vegas. By that I mean like lock picking and coputer hacking. Have they been improved? Are they gone?

If they are gone, how will we pick locks now? Do they still have computer terminals? I am hoping this part of the game is more fun this time around.

I would hope they are refined if not gone... but I believe it was said that they are largely unchanged.

The lockpicking and hacking ones are still there and there are no announced new minigames aside from gambling related ones.

Sadly, it sounds like hacking is completely unchanged.

Lockpicking is fine though, I can deal with that.

I hope hacking and lockpicking are the same. Lockpicking was really easy and hacking was too if you abused a glitch.
As for new minigames, it's Poker, Blackjack, Roulette, ect. and a new game called Caravan, which is a card game too.

Spoiler
To hack a computer every time you need to guess a word until you have one try left. If you don't guess it correctly and you have one chance before getting locked out, log off of the computer and try again, until you have one left. Repeat until you guess correctly. But who am I kidding, y'all already knew that

I actually like the lockpicking mechanism, although there is one thing that i would want to see in New Vegas, and that is more type of locks, as all locks in Fallout 3 looked the same if i recall correctly.

We'll see what they look like in a few days, all have fun breaking into them. :tops:

i thought the computer game was the dumbest thing ever...

doing it on very easy and easy it was fun and had strategy but after some of the normal and higher i felt like there was no strategy involved and i felt like i had to resort to backing out of the system then trying again for atleast 2 minutes

I liked lock picking in FO3, why was it bad? I didn't like all the hacking for Doors, I thought that was [censored]. Hacking for turrets and optional tech like that I thought was fine, but I think that to get into ammo storage rooms and stuff you should have both options (which you usually do, but not always) and Doors that lead further in a given "environment".

Edit: I'd rather have the hacking more like bioshock tbh, the word-game is just annoying.

I don’t hate the computer/lock picking but I was hoping for an option to toggle it between the mini game or pure % based on the skill points, I mean why not let the player decide if they want to play the mini game and once they get sick of it let the player switch to sim mode and the lock pick/hack will be simulated based on Skill %%.

I might be in the minority, but I think the lock-picking and hacking mini-games are great the way they are.

I liked lock-picking and didn't mind the hacking because it was actually challenging.

True, but it took to long, I'd just lockpick the door take the stuff and get on with killing things, on Very Hard you get XP at a very fast rate anyways.

Lockpicking is extremely easy I don't want that minigame changed period.

Hacking a Computer is well, a pain in the butt :brokencomputer:

I am indifferent. I liked the lockpicking in F3 and hacking never posed to much of a problem with the exploit.

I hate Minigames. Hate them.

The ones in FO3 were bearable. However I would like to have a Skill check on locks/hacking to where you can bypass the minigame if you have the chops.

However it was still a matter of the Player's skills more so than the Player Character's skills that determined the outcome.

at 100 lock picking you could bypass "very easy" locks, that you basically could unlock with your eyes closed anyways :/ Made me a sad panda.

I believe Poker didn't make it in, actually.

Yes of course there is gambling! And no lockpicking/hacking will stay the same.

Quoted for truth. Well, 100% agreement on a subjective question anyway.

I didn't mind either. I actually quite liked lock picking as unrealistic as it was.
