What are the noticeable differences between Adept and Expert

Post » Wed Jun 27, 2012 6:23 pm

Ever since launch I've only played on adept, but I find once I reach around level 30 the game gets a bit too easy for me, especially when playing with an assassin-type character.

So what I want to know before increasing the difficulty is what are the noticeable differences? I may sound kinda stupid here but I've noticed that quite a few of you guys play on higher difficulties so I thought I'd gain some knowledge from the experts, if you will! :P

Expert - deal 75% damage, take 150% damage
Master - deal 50% damage, take 200% damage

That's the only difference, you do level skills faster as it takes more hits to bring down enemies.

So I take it adept is deal 100% damage and take 100% damage? Or am I completely wrong?

That's correct.

So there are no other differences then? Just a decrease in damage dealt and an increase in damage received?

I′m not sure and have no confirmation, but it seemed when I changed difficulty from expert to master that shops had better stuff for sale and some of the loot might have been better fron enemies. Anyone else thinking this?

Either a mod, or purely psychological.

The great thing about difficulty is that it only affects you. A summoned Atronach will do the same amount of damage/take the same amount whether you are on Adept or Master. Love it.

I changed difficulty in the middle of the game, but there was almost 2 weeks break before continuing right after when I had changed the difficulty. so my memory might play tricks on me. It is possible for it to be psychological for me.

When I bumped from Adept to Expert, I felt there were more enemies to deal with at a time and they were strong. There was a dungeon filled with Draugr and Deathlords but after that difficult one, it all seemed to be manageable and it was fun again. It scared me at first though and it was the Wabbajack that saved me in that difficult one. As I learn the systems and my character becomes stronger, I'm thinking about trying another bump up to Master but I've seen people post that it can be insane. I wonder how insane? :tes:

I have 100 smithing, 90+ two handed, 90+ light armor and 70 enchanting on Master and I′m pretty certain I can kill everyting with Skyforge steel.
lvl 48 and I wish I could rise difficulty AGAIN by a notch but can′t.

I do remember not using a single potion against dragon on Expert, but when changed to Master, spent 30 potions of minor healing on next dragon.

At level 9 on Master, I had a 30 minute bow versus sword duel with the boss of Bleak Falls Barrows.
