Can some tell me (or point me to a list/site) what armor and what weapons do what? Example: do heavy armor effect my sneak negatively vs wearing leather armor? Does a 1h sword swing faster then a 1h mace? Just seems the in game tooltips are rather lacking. Thanks in advance for any help.

The sneak penalty you get is directly related to how heavy your apparel is. So heavy armour automatically gets a penalty until you get a perk to solve that. I'm pretty sure 1h swords swing pretty much as fast as maces, but maybe a tiny bit faster.
