what do bosmer eat?

I can't recall any specific valenwood fauna being eaten by them, aside of them drinking "fermented pig milk". So, was there something specific?

Oh man. Wasn't there that creepy flying parrotbeetle thing? The one in which poor Scotty practices some archery. It was the most hilarious scene.

The things followed him, chatting and repeating his voice, all googily eyed and flying.

They run away, knowing how dangerous that thing is
He misses.
They come back full force, laughing and chirping.

Cut scene, gilligan moment, He's sitting over a fire, roasting one on a stick.

Anything that is not a plant. They'll even eat dead relatives.

Each other, if they get ambitious enough. Makes laying siege to a Bosmeri city a bit of a pain (let alone the fact that at least one of them seems to have no problem just getting up and walking away).

Anything and everything that kicks, squawks, runs, flies, cries, and calls, even each other.

Surely this cannot be all, it's not particularly healthy for one.
I dimly remember them mentioned as importing wood from outside of Valenwood. Perhaps they import vegetables and fruits too.

They can eat whatever they want so long as it is not a plant in the Valenwood. That would violate the green pact. Meat though is fine. Better be thorough in cleaning animal carcasses though. Don't want to break the green pact by accidentally ingesting some twigs and such that was in a deer carcass.

From http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Pocket_Guide_to_the_Empire,_1st_Edition/Aldmeri_Dominion:
[Bosmer] are exclusively and religiously carnivorous. They cannot, or will not, eat anything that is plant-based. They eat game, beastfolk, each other, or meats imported from other regions. This part of the Green Pact is known as the Meat Mandate, and, among its other rules, it requires that a fallen enemy must be eaten completely before three days pass. The family members of the warrior that slew the enemy may help him with his meal. Needless to say, the Wood Elves do not like to engage in large battles if they have not undergone a suitable starvation period.

It's perfectly healthy for a carnivorous animal. You ever try to feed a carrot to a shark or an eagle?

You're correct about the imported wood, though.

Yeah, Bosmer won't eat imported vegetables, at least according to the pocket guide.

Actually, the Meat Mandate is pretty much the one reason I was deterred from playing Bosmer. I normally play the treehugger races but, I couldn't get over the meat thing. I pretty much heard "they smoke caterpillars from a pipe" and I walked away.
