What character type did you have the most fun with?

Post » Fri Jul 27, 2012 9:47 am

I'm looking to start a new skyrim character(again) and am racking my brain for some fun/different ideas.
I've done a Mage, assassIn, 2 hand warrior, theif, one hand warrior, as well as two different "non combat" builds.
I'm currently thinking of something along the lines of a live off the land hunter gather type. And to focus on more rp.
Skills to focus would be
Archery
Alchemy
Speech
Light armor?
Maybe smithing, for income sake.

If you have any ideas for this type of character, or other types to try, or if you just want to talk about a fun character you play, I'd love to hear your ideas.

For RP, I prefered my Illusionist most.
Sylvestar Morroh, Illusion/Conjuration/Enchanting/Speechcraft/Alchemy. Going all around being [censored], summoning powerful creatures for even weakest opponents, always paying "taxes" to bandits and that guard in Riften as he is afraid of conflict. Trying to be adventurer by collecting any kind of herbs or items for alchemy. He is afraid of goats.
But his Speechcraft is high as hell, as Thane, he always makes his followers carry everything, and gives them a small tip before he dismisses them. Posh, nonchalant, arrogant, silver tongued person, and afraid of his own shadow.

If you're using mods it's a different issue, but a couple of things I'd recommend for vanilla.

Melee warrior on master with no enchanting or alchemy, and limited smithing (though if it gets too hard you can level it a little to even out the difficulty). Archery is optional, and depends on how you want to play your character.

Thief/rogue/nightblade who only fights when backed into a corner, and tries to sneak all the way through the game. If you go nightblade, focus on sneak, archery, pickpocket (to poison people if necessary), then illusion and maybe conjuration.

That sounds a lot like my Mage. Really liked him.... Maybe I'll just keep him going....

So far, it has to be my orange and black striped Kajit character called Tony.

My character is a Battlemage, and it's probably my favorite. Using magic in one hand and a one-handed weapon in the other. My next character I plan to make is a Nightblade which is my second favorite. Using magic and stealth instead.

I guess it would have to be Archery, but it wouldn't have been If I didn't play with the HUD Opacity all the way down.

I'm really liking my current character - sneak + archery, with Illusion to ease the earlier levels of sneaking and eventually attain invisibility, light armour with the flesh spells in alteration augmenting my rather poor armour rating (plus it levels the skill nicely so I can utilise detect life properly), and for when things get nasty and I need to duke it out with whatever rumbled me, Bound Sword.

Very powerful, but very fun as I've not done a proper stealth character before, nor really bothered with archery :)

Sword and shield, every time.

I try and kid myself playing other ways but it always goes back to the tried and tested sword and board.

I had the most fun with my first character: a 2-Hand, Light Armor Warrior. We did no Enchanting, no Alchemy and did no quests at all. We roamed the countryside, following our own noses together, getting into our own trouble and making up our own adventures. That character lasted about 50 levels and was great fun. I plan to do it again, soon.

One of my funniest experiences was Orc Barbarian. He was a hunter and warrior and wear light armor(forsworn). He was bold and had no interest to do business with other races - trading with khajiits on roads was only exception to that. He avoided all human settlements/cities/villages. Quests and most of his business were located in the Strongholds but he was often travelling alone and hunting for animals and loot. He also was quite hostile so if others than orcs came to speak to him they should be cautious with their words - direct conversation with him was always a risk. He was proud of what he was and he feared and respected Daedric Princes so when ever they told him to do something he did that immediately. Daedric Princes were his divines and religion but he was not seeking to serve them. And when ever he went for hunt he started it by killing a fox and he made a small ritual with that fox and his special orcish ritual dagger and some valuables/food/ingredients which he sacrificed. That was his way to pray for better luck for hunting from Hircine.
He also made some rituals to Malacath after great victories in battles.
He was trained to be a smith too and he liked to eat great amount of raw meat in a day - venisons, dog meat, rabit legs, salmon and what ever meat he was able to get and he never forget to drink lot of mead with the meat. Getting mead from bandits and meat from animals was a fun daily hobby I had with him.

This sounds really interesting. Gave me few ideas for my new concept :thanks:

I love my mage. Even though Destruction isn't great. I still love imagining I'm a badass glass cannon.

I agree with Bricstix. That is a really fascinating roleplay, Nago. It almost makes me want to start my first Orc character. :) Great work.

I had a lot of fun with my Imperial 'Vigilant of Stendarr'. One Handed, Heavy Armor, Alteration, & Restoration. The Dragonhide spell and a Ward spell is a really nice combination, and with a few Restoration spells up my sleeve, I feel quite safe, even when playing on expert, and occasionally, master. It should be noted that I am playing with the SkyRe Modification, so many of the spells in game are totally different from their vanilla counterpart. You can read more about it here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9286/

Casius, my Vigilant of Stendarr, is retired now, and spends his day in Hall of the Vigilant with the rest of his fellow Vigilants. But he will make a comeback once Dawnguard is released.

I have alot of fun with my hunter/explorer, Amber Morningsong http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/hh611/Trace9569/HPIM1391.jpg. She wears fur only. lvl 35 with no HUD at all, the brightness settings to were she has to carry a torch to see at night. It did take a while to get used to useing the bow w/o the crosshairs but I did. magic/health/stamina are about equal in numbers w/o fortify enchants. She doesn't do any questlines, so she can go into anyplace w/o haveing to worry about "breaking" a quest. She "lives" in the Alchemists shack, but wanders all over the place. Hunting and makeing potions are her livelyhood but she is not above looting and dungeon diveing.
Fur armor (light in other words)
Archery
1h ( one dagger)
Distruction ( only flame and sparks though perked to apprentice )
Illusion for calm spell's
Sneak is high skill but not perked really high ( because I think a hunter should have a high sneak)
Alchemy & smithing ( only 4 perks in smithing) for income.
