What Does Everyone Make of These?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 4:59 am

We've seen ferocious trolls, ghostly ice wraiths, bumbling giants, giant bears and diseased wolves; it's safe to say they all look amazing. But as I watched the newest footage realeased a few days ago, I found something that caught my eye. The link below is to an image I caught at 0:06 in the "Making of Skyrim" trailer. I come to you today to hear what everyone's opinions of what these might be. Goblin? Witch? Hunger? What?

It's all up for grabs.

I personally think it's some kind of Witch-related enemy. Their twisted faces, long fingers/nails and use of magic point to such an assumption. You can also make out a withered pair of briasts on the creature in the foreground, possibly signifying that they are human. They are also wearing furs on their torso and feathers on their arms, which leads me to believe they might be some kind of dark druidic cult or sect of Witches that lurk in the caverns out in the back country.

Whatever they are, I was pleased to see them. I'm glad I stopped and said, "Holy sh*t, those actually look creepy!" They're a far cry from Oblivion's Sesame Street looking trolls, cartoon-ish ghosts or the land dreughs (crab people on land? wtf?). I'm looking forward to enemies that look like they can tear you in two, or chase you out of a cave or ruin simply by snarling and lurking in the shadows.

Does anyone care to put their two cents into the bucket?

Could be http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Harpy, which appeared in Daggerfall, I think. Though I would have expected more feathers...

Interesting point, especially since they're wearing feathers on their arms.

I didn't notice they only had four fingers as well... very suspicious!

I was also very excited to see them as my first character is going to be somewhat based on the Witchhunter class of old.

My updated guesse:

1. Witches (75%)
2.Harpy (45%) - Although the feathers are definitely not attached naturally...

Is a hag-raven a real thing are you we just making it up? Either way sounds bad ass to me lol.

They're the same thing. Half-female-half-bird creature that eats people. Famously use magic.
