What else comes with Hearthfire?

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 9:54 pm

Yes I see we get housing and a bunch of new materials (edible pyramids cooking in the oven...) but I am wondering about things like:
-New Women/Men to marry
-More Orphans (and is there a limit on adoptions?)
-More companions
-Will the rest of Skyrim even know of your new house? (will the world react to this dlc?)
-Will We we be able to fortify our homes? A military outpost? Guards? Archery Towers? Traps?
-Can we open a storefront based out of homes (like almost all shops in Skyrim)
-Will any new quest be attached to this DLC?
-Any new enemies to encounter? (doubt it)
-Any new weapons?
-Can our homes house multiple companions (like in New Vegas)?
-Can any part of the house be below ground? (Could we make a underground lair? Just make the basemant with a hatch?)
If anyone can give a link to find what content will come with DLC please share!

I am not asking/saying that any of this NEEDS to be in the content, just wondering if they went any further besides just adding housing and a few characters to help run it...

I don't think any additional content has been announced, as of yet.

You get a new car.....sorry wagon what more could you want? You might be able park it outside dungeons and just keep loading it up, good for all those Dwarven materials that weigh a Ton.

Finally being able to collect some mats for the new house would be nice. Those rolled up mats have been annoying me for ages. Being able to steal unique furnishings would be nice, but I suppose there has to be a limit to what you can carry home. They let me make or buy everything I will be happy enough.

I also would like the option of a basemant for the new houses, hide all the good stuff out of sight in case someone robs the place.

Well after watching the video I find your comment and many others here stupid. Giants and skeevers attack, whcih means the world does in fact react to it. I was wondering if bandits would try and raid, if merchants would stop by, if the occasional travel would wander in looking for goods, would a hold try and make you pay taxes... ya know things that involve thought and thinking outside of the box.

Honestly I was thinking that this house thing should have been an "Update/patch" or whatever they call them.

I am hoping they went all out for this if it's just the house.

This seems way too much for free patch content, especially compared to the other patch-features we've gotten so far. New kill cams, mounted combat, new underwater effects, all in seperate patches no less, are nothing compared to what Hearthfire adds to the game.

Yeah but wasn't house creation in the game jam where the rest of all those things came from?

And it doesn't seem like we are getting very much content.

Compared to the free stuff? We definitely are. We're not just getting the house-building, we're also getting adoption (I'm hearing pets as an extension of this, but I'm not sure), the ability to recruit new followers to be stewards, bards, and/or personal transports, and what will most likely be smallish radiant quests and random events in defending your home from bandits, kidnappers, skeever infestations and giant attacks. Even if it was just the house-building aspect, I'd say that would be more significant than any of the free stuff in terms of its impact on the game.

I would expect any potential future new content added through patches to be along the lines of footprints in snow, verlet surfaces, etc.

True but still as mentioned this was in game jam but atleast they are adding more than just building a house.

I still want to see more freebies though...

I would too, but I would expect a lot of it, especially the "meatier" stuff, to be included in DLCs. We saw a fair amount of the Game Jam content added to Dawnguard, and I'm sure more of it will be introduced as new features in future DLCs, with some minor stuff maybe being added here and there in patches like what I mentioned in my edit above.

Agreed. I'm hoping they've got a few freebies to mix in with this dlc like they did with Dawnguard.

And I thought I read awhile back that Bethesda was only doing 3 dlcs... is this true or internet myth?

Well, when you put it like that, sure. I just find it funny at the prospect in terms of how the game normally reacts to things...making idle comments as you walk by. Maybe a variation of thug attack where the note states that it's because the Dragonborn doesn't keep his weeds in check and is lowering the property value of his forest.

One would think that the Dragonborn living in a town would have a better reaction than to whereever he's living with Hearthfire.

I reckon in one of the homes there will be an unmarked quest, like the one in battlehorn castle. That would be a nice cool feature.

well in oblivion the add on homes were worth the money
in hearthfire you will be able to decorate your house as you want to
just like oblivion

in skyrim the homes come pre decorated ,the ones in the holds that is
in oblivion they were not [well some hsd plates.. which i changed.. but not decorated as skyrims homes are]
so i like the new add on
where you can choose your inside decorations as you see fit
and make those decorations

as for location
frostcrag was east of bruma
battlehorn north of chorrol
swindlers den west of anvil
the other one south of leyawin

so here i believe [assume] the locations are close to the hold.. the the one in the pale and falkreath
the spots are predetermined
there will be achievements for this
