What exactly happens when leveling an attribute?

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 12:39 am

When an attribute advances a level, what exactly are the benefits ? I red from a loading screen that advancing one level in a magical attribute will
decrease the Magicka used. But what about all the others ? Is there somewhere a a list on the Net allready available ? I didn′t find anything so far.
It′s really a pitty there is nearly no info about a characters stats within the game.

i believe its because ur question has been asked xillion times before, and since during the first few weeks of a game release most topics cover a 'this game sux x this game rocks' flame war, then the repetitive topics get lost in limbo.

also, ur question refers to something many ppl (i myself) frown upon, which is the loss of attribute charts and character information. a lot of room for discussion....

I think this might hekp u:

I don't understand the question. The attributes (strength, intelligence etc.) were removed in Skyrim, only skills are left.
I'm assuming you're asking about skills (sneak, one-handed, etc).
In that case, they improve your actions. A character with higher skill in sneak will be harder for enemies to detect. The locks are easier to pick and lockpicks don't break so easily if your skill is high in lockpicking etc.

Thank you, but that′s not really what I′m looking for. For example If you gain one level in lockpicking
What is the exact benefit from it ? Do Lockpicks break harder.. or is range to open a lock wider ?

in a nutshell, all skills unlock tiers of perks and then:
-all magic skills decrease the mana cost of spells of that school
-all weapon skills increase damage
-armors increase the armor rating and block the amount of damage blocked
-sneak decreases chance of being detected (a multiplier to light/sound/movement dampening
-lockpick gets easier to find the right position (angles)
-Im not sure what speech does atm >_< I think it gives a passive discount when buying stuff and gives you more sucessfull chances at persuade and intimidade option in dialogue.

Thanks You, that is what I meant. Like this

"The art of lockpicking is used to open locked doors and containers faster and with fewer broken lockpicks.

Ahh...alright.
Simple answer:
1. Gaining a 'point' in a particular skill does, indeed, improve that skill.
1. Gaining a 'Level" should be thought of as gaining a Perk point.

Examples: Gaining a point in One-Handed will increase the damage inflicted with one-handed weapons. Gaining a point in Lockpicking will make locks of all levels slightly easier (more forgiving on your picks).
Perks are just that; perks.
