What exactly do these savegame managers do to Skyrim?

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 12:37 pm

I've been using the TESV Savagame manager for a while now with no problems at all. Then suddenly my brother switches to his character in the manager, loads Skyrim and only my saves are there. So I uninstall the manager, install another and I have the exact same problem. All the save are in the correct skyrim save folder, it just refuses to even see my brothers saves, mine are the only ones that show up.

How can this be? Do the manager put some kind of filter on the game? How do I take it off?

My brother needs your help.

Bump, any ideas?

It's really strange, I can remove every single save from the save folder, and put in there ONLY my brothers save but when I click load on the main menu all I see are MY saves.

It makes no sense at all.

I think I may have found something. Skyrim now looks in C:\Users\Calvin\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\TESVSGM\ for saves. How do I make it look in C:\Users\Calvin\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves?

Somehow the save game location has been changed.

1. Backup all your save games

2. Uninstall all save game managers.

3. Copy (don't move) all your savegames back into the MyGames/Skyrim/Saves folder

4. Install TES V Savegame Manager

5. Select Scan for new profiles in Savegames menu.

Hope this works.

Easiest method then would be to copy his saves to that folder as well then they should show up also !

Agreed, but the savegame manager installation might be bugged.

I'll give this a try.

That does work but I lose the ability to use the savegame manager.

I believe there's an option it adds in either Skyrim.ini or Skyrimprefs.ini. Look for the save directory there.

I don't think there is, I can't find anything there.
