What is a good mod for animal textures?

Post » Sat May 26, 2012 1:01 pm

I can't stand looking at some of these animals anymore. My bears look like they have clay for fur. I am using terrain bump and the optimized Skyrim DLC mod. Any recommendations on some animal mods?

Bellyaches mod is good, but is based off of Bethesda's textures. I don't think there is a really good animal texture mod (that is comprehensive), sadly :( Actually, I have yet to see any REALLY GOOD horse texture mods, done from scratch and not just reworked Bethesda textures... If they do exist, please don't hesitate to point them out :)

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1366265-relwip-automatic-variants-thread-4/ is an ingenious mod that enables the game to load many different variant textures (and eventually meshes as well) when creatures and objects spawn.

And it's continuing to grow as more people create texture packages for this mod.

Another one you should look into is http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9778, which not only adds variant textures, but many sub-species of creatures with different stats.

Wow, Automatic Variants looks really cool! I wonder where its compatibility stands with other mods...time for some reading.

I would LOVE to get Real Wildlife, but the ambient insect mini-Chaurus kinda gives me the heebie jeebies...
