What happens if i kill a non-essential NPC ?

Hello ! Well, since 11.11.11 i always played as the good guy, and now i'm thinking into playing as a bad guy, or atleast someone that doesn't mind killing an "Innocent NPC"(i.e citizen). So i was wondering, if a kill for example a Shopkeeper, what happens ? Will the shop be closed, or someone will probably replace the old owner and be the new shopkeeper, for example the brother/sister/son/father/friend of the NPC that i killed. Since i like to role-play a bit, i don't want to keep re-loading a quicksave everytime i screw up something, so some info about this would help. Thanks ! :D

If you kill a non essential NPC, they stay dead, as for a shop keeper, I think but I am not sure, if they have a relative, the relative takes over, and he hates you. For example, I killed the brother of that archery vendor in whiterun, and now he always calls me a scumbag, but if the vendor doesn't have a relative, the shop stays closed forever.
