What's his name the slayer as a steward?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 5:03 pm

I finally re-installed hearthfire, got stuck into the ale, and build myself a manor at lakeview...aside from the fact that putting a 'trophy room' with someone else's trophies in it destroyed the view of the lake, I have an issue...

I thought that what's his name the slayer would make a decent steward, being into both farming and killing things, so off I toddle and grab him. No dialogue, no nothing. So I checked the various forums, and saw that some Xboxers have the issue that they can't 'steward him. I'm on pc, so that's a bit of a mystery to me...

Can he be a steward? Bit of an obvious choice in my view...although it's a bit of a theoretical question because I now have Gerthude The Pugilist...hey, at least she can teach the kiddies all about women's rights, gender equality and killing dudes. That's got to be a good thing, right?

Erik is my steward. He reminds me of a little kid.Whenever I come back he says something like "Oh you're back. Are we going to go on an adventure"and a bunch of stuff like that.I think it kind of cute. He's still very good at defending us if we're attacked.

He's actually a 'realistic' character, which is part of the reason I wanted him. I'm not sure that gorilla woman is the best role model for kids though...but, then again, it is skyrim, lol.

Did you talk to his father and get him to agree to let Erik become an adventurer? You have to do that first, and it may cost money to buy him a set of armor. (just iron armor, not expensive unless you're really low on money) If you convince his father, go back and talk to him, then leave for a day or so and come back, he should follow you then, for 500 gold. After that first time, you often don't have to even pay him, he wants the experience so will offer to follow for free.

Edited for typos.

Thanks for the info  . I finished the whole thing with talking to his father and giving the money for the armor. But Erik just said thanks and no further dialogue when I went back. I might go back and talk to him again to see if that works. I ended up with Roggi Knot-Beard instead but there's still one more house to build so Erik may still get his chance!

I love your subject heading. I think "What's-His-Name, the Slayer" ought to be the name of an actual character in some fantasy book/game/film etc.

When you go back, if he's sitting in the Inn in his armor, you should be good to go.
