what house containers are safe storage? -(Possible Bug!)

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 6:31 am

Does ANYONE know what containers in the house(s) and rooms are safe for storage??? Preferably, EXACTLY which containers (or type of containers) are safe, that is.

The reason I ask this is that I may have just encountered an issue where my house as well as, and more importantly, all my house's containers have reset.
I currently have 2 of the houses, Heljarchen and Windstad. Both of which are essentially fully furnished (-only missing a few stuffed animal heads, 2 stuffed Trophies and 3 Chandeliers (or whatever those light sources are called)between the two).
I just returned to Windstad and noticed 2 things: The house reset to new (I.E.- All decorations; Alchemy ingredients laying around, Bowls, Plates Miscellaneous junk, Etc.), along with some containers resetting too (though I can't remember which containers began with default stuff inside them nor what was in each of them). Types of containers that reset on me were... about half of the Sacks, a few Barrels, and at least one set of droors (one of the droors in the Entry Room, I guess they're actually called End Tables; That is one of the large & long ones).
The second thing I noticed was that a few of the sacks (so far I think only some of the ones in the Entry Room) are (and I can't think of any other way putting this) "Double Sacks"... (2 Sacks glitched-out inside of each other, overlapping, however you want to put it) The 2 sacks are occupying the EXACT same space and are counting as 2 separate containers. I move the cursor over them and it keeps changing between saying "Empty" and "Full" within the same FRACTIONAL amount of space while pointing at the "Double Sack".

I revisit Heljarchen constantly as it's my main home now (for storage, all essential functions, Etc.), but apparently haven't been back to Windstad in a while (long enough for the containers and house to reset, however long that of a time that requires (Does anyone know the amount of time it takes for containers and places to respawn?? -I myself have forgotten)). I know that the UESP Wiki says that ALL PLAYER HOUSING AND CONTAINERS WITHIN ARE SAFE AND DON'T RESPAWN (-INCLUDING SACKS & BARRELS), but maybe now it's different in the case of this new Hearthfire DLC.

Lucky for me though, I don't use Windstad as my main home, therefore I've not stored anything at all in that house and so I haven't lost anything.

The issue though, is that I can't say the same for Heljarchen...

-------------------------DISREGARD THE FOLLOWING PLEASE--------------------

And now I'm speaking directly to any people who work for Bethesda and may be looking through these Bug Report Sections of the forums-

I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH THE IMPORTANCE OF NOT LOSING ALL MY STUFF COLLECTED UP OVER ABOUT 400 HOURS OF PLAYING TIME ON 1 SINGLE CHARACTER (ONE should be enough).

I WOULD PREFER AVOIDING A REPEAT OF THE COLLEGE OF WINTERHOLD'S NEW APPRENTICE QUARTERS ISSUE WHERE ONLY THE 2 DRESSERS AND WARDROBES ARE SAFE FOR STORAGE.
...NEED I BRING UP THE PAST FAILURES OF OBLIVION, AS IN NAMELY THE ANIMATION-BUG (AKA THE A-BOMB BUG), WHICH WAS NEVER PATCHED IN SPITE OF KNOWLEDGE OF IT AND REGARDLESS OF LEGAL RIGHTS ISSUES REGARDING THE CODING WHICH WAS LIKELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BUG ITSELF (NO EXCUSE).

MY FINAL POINT...

IF THIS IS A BUG, FIX IT.

YES, in case you can't tell i just ranted... and YES, I've seen noticed more than my far share of similar posts on these forums... and YES, I realize how immature and tiresome these types of posts have become, especially to any forum moderators...
As such, my apologies to everyone... but as you should be able to tell, I've had my fair share of issues (back in Oblivion that is, though I've so far had no issues with Skyrim... And I'd like to keep it that way (AND YES I SAVE CONSTANTLY... I CURRENTLY HAVE ABOUT 100 SAVES STORED ON HARD DRIVE- IT STILL ENDS UP NOT BEING ENOUGH SOMETIMES))

...Real simple lesson here though:

Hindsight is 20/20... but foresight is golden.
...If this bug IS legit, OR if it's lack of foresight on the programming side of things...

GET TO IT... FIX IT/CORRECT IT.

PLAYERS DON'T ALWAYS GET BACK HOME WITHIN THE AMOUNT OF TIME NEEDED TO KEEP THINGS FROM RESETTING AND RE-SPAWNING...
I DON'T WANT TO LOSE MY ITEMS AND EFFORT... AND I'D LIKE TO BE ABLE TO ACTUALLY PLAY THROUGH THIS GAME, ALL THE WAY TO THE ENDING, EXPERIENCE IT IN IT'S TOTALITY, WITH ONLY ONE CHARACTER... AND NOT END UP WITH A 60$+ PLASTIC DISC IN MY GARBAGE.

THANK YOU

...NOVEL OVER

-------------------------DISREGARD THE ABOVE PLEASE----------------------

P.S.-

No need to respond unless you have some insight into this issue...

Thanks again.

Update:

Waited 10+ days... Went back to Heljarchen... EVERYTHING is intact. -No lost items; No containers reset.

Only things that reset were the outside decorations (that is, the items laying around the inside of the house meant as decorations).

...It seems as though Heljarchen is safe for me, after all.

BUT... This still leaves the issue of the "Double Sacks" (container intersecting container... but with no visible graphical issue).
...Not to mention Lakeview Manor, for which I've not yet even approached the Jarl to buy the land for...?...

2nd Update-

Did a little bit more testing...
It seems as though I may have Duplicates of other containers as well which would explain why I thought Windstad Manor's containers had reset on me.

So................

As it turns out I may have over reacted.
But that still leaves the issue of the duplicate Sacks and Containers which made me jump to conclusions.

Never the less, my apologies... and disregard the above ranting section of the 1st post please... (The part that's crossed-out now).
