What Miraak's Equipment Should Have Been

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 8:51 am

Miraak's Mask
  • Time between shouts is reduced 30%

Miraak's Robes
  • Damage and Force of shouts is increased by 15%

Miraak's Gloves
  • Adds 5% to the shout bonuses of Miraak's Robes.

Miraak's Boots
  • Adds 5% to the shout bonuses of Miraak's Robes.

Miraak's Sword
  • Chance to envelop the target in tentacles that stagger and poison foes.

I couldn't think of anything good for his Sword and Staff, so I just gave his sword the same sort of enchantment as his staff. If the Sword/Staff were to be changed, then the whole design of the two would have to be changed as well.

Well then you're just like Miraak; shouting left and right like no one's business.

Miraak does not shout for free most likely.
All other npc's ( namely dragons) use magika to use shouts ( so using lightning magic you can stop dragons shouting) and he is likely the same.

Wow, that'd have been way cooler if we could use Magicka for Shouts instead of the dumb shout meter.

Which if true could be said to give you an advantage-in that you do not need to use your magica rescources to shout and can be used for other things at same time?

I'm agreeing wigth everything exept the sword. I like it the way it is. But Miraak's gear just seems so... completely useless.

Scratch the %'s you have there and make it +5% or +10% for each piece of Miraak's armor (Mask, robes, gauntlets, boots & sword/staff) equipped to fit in with the other Dragonborn DLC named armors.

All I wish is that his sword would actually have the range that the tentacle makes it look like it does.

No that would be awful. shouts would take a huge amount of magicka compared to spells, and if you use destruction you'd be [censored] in even a semi long fight.

Way too much overpowered...
Anyway, it would be nice if the sword had a longer range and poison damage...it has a cool unique model, it should have a unique enchantment...

The shout-meter is your character catching their breath. We're not thousands of years old like Miraak is.
And while I do play a 400-500 year old character, practicing the Thu'um is still a recent development even for him.

Nay. Miraak's gear should have been more like the Ahzidal/Deathbrand sets. Some kind of multiple enchantment.
Sadly, as they are, they're not even terribly useful for real mages. You get something like 25% absorption (30+% if you're a Vampire with Necromage) which, admittedly, can be useful... But it's of limited use. I'm not always faced against mages so most of the time, I'm wasting three slots that could be giving me things like mana, regen, and less spellcosts.

Ahzidal's set was a defensive magical set. Miraak's set should have been like that, only on offense.

Maybe not that overpowerd, albeit, there needs to be something that lowers shout time by a little, maybe another 15 to 20%. As dragonborn, it kinda svcks when you can only use one shout per fight, or when a drauger can shout more than you.

I would have liked a shout time reduction of like 20% at most. Having never ending shouts just hands every victory to you on a platter.

This is what I feel. I very rarely use shouts, because what's the point of using Fire Breath when you have to wait 100 seconds between uses? I can go through half a dungeon in that time.

Seeing Miraak use shout after shout in quick succession is what inspired me to come up with this. I already voiced my displeasure over how much Miraak and his stuff was tied to Hermaeus Mora and the tentacle theme, so this puts more of a focus on the "DRAGONBORN" aspect.

If it's overpowered, then so what? Combat in Skyrim has no real strategy, it's just spam attacks and heals.

Fire Breath is only one shout and is useful when fighting a mass of enemies.. Spamming shouts like Whirlwind sprint, Soul Tear and even Unrelenting Force would give you crazy power, plus dragon aspect +Talos blessings already gives you some great Thuum ability.

I was a little underwhelmed by his mask. Should definitely have been a hefty shout bonus attached to it.

the sword wouldve been better if it had its own kill animations that incorporated the tendrils on it..

Question about not being able to shout like miraak because it is overpowering. If you aren't on equal footing with him how did you defeat him.
Make the armor decrease your shout cool down only in Dragon Aspect form. The form last for A set period so decrease this period by a 5th and with armor allow for a decrease in time between your shouts.
If your character is able to best him then at that point you should be close to his skill level as a Dragonborn.

Same way you deal with groups of Draugr deathlords. If you are really struggling drain his magic.

That would have been nice. If they had those enchantments I might actually have used them rather than throwing them on the nearest mannequin.

Still wouldn't use the mask though. Squidface, no thanks.
