What no off race companions or jarls

Also there are no Khajiits living in Skyrim because they prefer the warm clima in Esweyr or other parts of Tamriel. All Khajiit in Skyrim are Merchants.

There are 2 Khajiit followers that I know of. One is a guard of a merchant caravan ( you do a quest for him and he then offers to follow you), and of course my good friend J'zargo, from the Mage's Guild.
There are also Orc followers, you also have to complete a quest to get them.

I don't know if it is exaggerated as your character is pretty much exempt for playability reasons. Just like the Alik'r can't get into Whiterun to look for some woman, but I, and the woman can, as Redguard. Khajiit don't seem to be let into cities much, if at all, and merchant Khajiit are made to camp outside the city walls.

That's only because of the groups they are assosiated with. Whiterun has redguard citizens, there is a khajiit woman living in Riften. Not to mention my (khajiit) character wasn't told to get lost when aproaching Whiterun's guards the first time, and then being escorted by guards to Dragonsreach after telling them Riverwood needs help (or the other options).

Also, as said, no one even mentions players race. Except the woodelf shopkeeper at Whiterun. And the word after that is "friend" :hehe:

The game doesn't have racism outside Windhelm, which is why i found that statement so strange.

And the priestess of Azura.

It seems the only races the Nords are really ok with are the Redguards and the Bretons, and even then the mongrel Reachmen are hated.

Not really. Nords don't hate Cyrodilians, they just get annoyed by the Imperial government's sort of assumption that Nords are all lawless, ignorant savages. They have a legitimate beef with elves since their ancestors got pretty much wiped out by the Falmer, but obviously this has a limited effect on most modern elves in Skyrim. Never heard a Nord complain about the Bosmer. The Altmer sometimes end up having their common arrogance cost them, but that's on them, and Altmer that don't act like their [censored] don't stink have no problems in Skyrim.

Dunmer have some legitimate issues, but that's pretty much totally in Eastmarch - really just in Windhelm. Ulfric isn't making the friction any better, but it largely stems from the fact that they're a large group of immigrants that sort of arrived largely all at once, which always causes friction between the immigrant population and the native population. Given that it's a non-issue outside of Windhelm it doesn't seem to be all that big a thing.

And while the Khajiit traders are forced to remain outside the city walls, that's fairly minor. Argonians move about in the cities with no issues.

This is a good point to remember. I'm always wanting to say something about people's spelling, bad punctuation and inability to form reasonable sentences, but I never say anything because we have so many people here for whom English is a second language. I know by holding my tongue and refraining from unleashing the sarcasm, a lot of native English speakers with an embarrassing lack of fluency in their mother tongue are getting off easy, but that's better than me unloading a wave of sarcasm on somebody for his English only to learn he's Brazilian or Nigerian or something.

There's a dark elf among the Companions. Not sure if you can get him to follow you or not; haven't tried.

Not that it is license to flame but...

It has been my experience that non-native English speakers either come right out and apologize for their broken English, or have better written language skills than many native speakers. It's the native speakers that think they have carte blanche to maul the language relying on the reader to "no wot i sed".

lol

Sometimes that's true. Also, I just remembered that Nigeians are native English speakers. It's the official language there, anyway. I guess most Nigerian's first language is their local tribal language, but I think English is everybody's second language and is learned at a young age.

So perhaps I should have said "Brazilian or Italian".

And yeah, sometimes the non-native English speakers get really fluent.

Not true. J'zargo is in The Mage's College.

and there are Argonian, Orc, and Khajiit companions.

Yes Kharjo and J'zargo.

Kharjo is a Guard of a Caravan, so he isn't "living" in Skyrim
J'zargo also doesn't "live" in Skyrim, he just visit the Mage's College.

So they are more or less just visitors.

do you think we will ever see a Japanese King of England? no because the kings and queens are all by blood and are all British. same goes for the Jarl's i'm assuming.

Jarls would naturally be Nords. It is Skyrim after all.

And the Jarl of Whiterun has an Imperial as an advisor and a Dunmer as a lead military commander. That's quite cosmopolitan, I think.

Others do too. The Jarl of Winterhold has a Dunmer assistant, even though they are not well thought of in Winterhold.

Seems very balanced. This is not Cyrodiil which was much more racially diverse.

So Jarls can't become English Monarchy because they are Japanese?

There is a Dumner female mage from the College that will follow you besides the priestess of Azura. She has been following my Archmage for a long time.

I don't think the OP understands politics. Nords rule Skyrim, so the rulers are Nord.

Something a little stranger to notice would be how many Jarls are single. I haven't seen a Jarl with a husband or wife. They are all widows. I think Winterhold has a couple.
Idgrod Ravencrone is married. Elisif obviously is widowed.

I don't know what the OP is talking about with the orc and Argonian voice-overs. The Argonians sound good and the orcs are total BAMF.

Erm. That's so not true. England has had royalty from all over, same goes for most of Europe, actually.

As far as I've been able to glean from Lore (I'm definitely no Lore Master), the Imperial government, more or less, grants a certain level of autonomy to the provinces, so long as they pay taxes, follow Imperial laws, and generally recognize imperial authority.

As someone else pointed out, the Jarls are hereditary - most of the ruling families have held their positions since, probably, before Talos founded the 2nd Empire. What was the state of Skyrim before the founding of the empire? An independent state which had been founded by Nords who had invaded Skyrim and engaged in a very effective ethnic cleansing, forcing all other races out of government and, mostly, out of the province entirely, as far as I can tell.

So, all the jarls are Nords because they are the descendants of an ethnic group that founded an ethnic state.

So, the civil war in this game is likely the first set of circumstances in the "recent history" of Skyrim where the Empire might have had reasonable justification to appoint their own, chosen Jarls, and chose some non-Nords. However, it seems in the interest of trying to not incite more rebellion amongst the Nords, they chose Jarls from Nord families that remained loyal to the Empire in the civil war, which is a perfectly understandable strategy.

It's the land of the Nords do I need to say more? And yes, there is an argonian follower in the game.

All the Jarls are nordic because.. wait for it... we are in Skyrim, like so many others have stated.
If by companions you mean The Companions you will be pleased to hear that there are at least one Imperial and a Dunmer among them.

there is a khajiit woman living in Riften

Where? I've played two characters that call Riften home (one of which was a Khajiit), and I'm totally blanking on this for some reason. Or maybe she's tied to a questline I haven't done?

Shavari is her name. Though come to think of it, i'm not sure if she actaully lives there, or is there just during the certain main quest.
Spoiler
When you need to rescue Esbern, she may attack you. Also as she is assosiated with the Thalmor she may be an exception.

(Continuing from the spoiler) But even if so a khajiit player character can get a house in Riften without anyone raising an eyebrow  And no, no one during the Thane quests ever mentions him/her being the Dragonborn.

In short i just don't buy this "all kahjiit are banned from enetering cities", it's just the caravans. And if you've done business with them, you may have noticed they sell both Moon Sugar and Skooma
