Dunmer is always my first choice. If I wanted to experience the other faction zones, Orsimer and Khajiit would be my other two characters.

Still not sold on actually buying the game, but, hypothetically this would be my approach.

I was wondering if racial choice automatically determines faction choice. I would love to play as Khajit, but not for the Dominion faction. A Free Khajit, as it were.

At the moment your race and faction are inextricably linked. You cannot be a free anything.

I always play as a Breton for my first choice ever sense i played Daggerfall.

I wanted to play a Nord but not if im fraction with the Dunmer and Argonians- it ruins how i will play my character in my opinion. Ill be a Hypocrite to fight the Thalmor because they are elves when im allied to the Dunmer because my country was in a weak state i had no other choice to ally with dark elves over the other men races. IDK its my personal opinion

Probably a Dunmer who is into archery and calling people scum while watching them; as well as a Nord warrior called ~~Chuck Norris~~ Rothgar Storm-Seeker, roundhouse kicking fireballs everywhere. :tongue:

I would prefer to play Altmer, but will not be part of the Dominion, so Nord probably, going 'round healing people and boring everyone with the oldest story she knows.

Have to admit though, am I the only one finding the faction ratios a bit unfair?
I mean on the one hand Ebonhart has nearly HALF of Tamriel, but the Covenant only gets 2 regions (one of which is the smallest) and the Dominion gets a landmass barely bigger than Cyrodiil.

Oh, and that's not even taking into account the player imbalance, there is going to be ALOT of Nords running around because Skyrim came out last year, and the Dominion is going to have its work cut out for it when it has the Khajiit but most would rather not play as cats working for essentially Nazis with magic.

Yeah this has been discussed before. The Ebonheart Pact will be very crowded. It contains two of the three starring races of the past three TES games (the third, Imperials, isn't playable). Most early polls showed Ebonheart having 50-60% of voters, leaving the other two to fight over 2nd place. Not sure how much it will matter when it comes to PVP since the battlegrounds max out at 200 players so I'm sure it will be balanced in a lot of ways like that, but still, it's kinda silly, almost like they didn't think it through and just chose the factions based on geographical proximity.

The high elves would have to be my least favorite though... Well not all of them. I just don't like the Thalmor.

The Bosmer (wood elves) and Khajiit are by far my two favorite races. Unfortunately, both of those races belong to the Aldemiri Dominion whose main goal is to conquer.
I'm a bit torn because I love those races, but the Aldemiri mindset is not me at all.. also, one must consider the land they get to explore... will Valenwood and Elsweyr hold a candle to the land of Morrowind?

I sincerely doubt Nords will be able to be mages.

Nords, Redguards and Orcs I see as fighters, while Bretons, Dunmer and Altmer will be mages, and Bosmer, Khajiit and Argonians will be the rogues. Just a hunch I've got... there might be variations within those archetypes (Bosmer = rangers, while Khajiit = thieves and Orcs = beserkers and Redguards = paladins, for example), but I guarantee that specific races will be locked into specific classes.
