What Races Are Playable?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:33 am

Aside from the races we play as in every game, will we finally be able to play as a dremora? Golden Saints? Falmer?

I will be very surprised if it's anything more than the standard 10 races.

Pretty sure Imperials are out. Imperials kind of did not exist until the Septim Empire. The Nords were the Imperials then. I think.

Imperials aren't playable. Bretons, Redguards, and Orcs are one faction. Nords, Dunmer, and Argonians are a second. Altmer, Bosmer, and Khajiit are the third.

So there you have it. No multi-cultural cities going on here. Nords kill Bretons, Orcs, Redguards, Altmer, Bosmer, and Khajiit on sight.

Sorry no tails for Argonians, just Orcs and Khajiit. The Orcs rolled Need and won on lizard tails.

Old WOW joke of mine, Alliance have Dranei (blue demon looking race) and Worgen who is werewolves without tails and I thought the Worgen had more need for them, but lost out during character creation.

Where did you get this information? Based on the timeline I would have assumed that Imperials and Orcs would not be playable. I assumed each of the others would have their own starting area, not mixed with a few other races.

Its in the scans of the upcoming article.

Imperial are the enemy, working with Mannimarco who has promised them their old glory back, but meanwhile is working with Molag Bal in order to pull Tamriel into Coldharbour.

Timeline wise everything fits btw.
The Empire is in its interregnum between the assasination of the potentate and the rise of emperor zero, Cuhlecain.

Its around http://www.imperial-library.info/content/second-era, when Orsinium had lost its status as Imperial territory. They would not regain that until after the events of Daggerfall in the third era.

Until I see an official Dev response saying Imperials aren't playable, then I will believe they are unplayable.

Right now, I believe the Imperial are the Cross Faction Human Race that can be any of the Three Factions. That way all three factions can have humans.

im hoping for some of the races that've appeared in TES, but have never been playable or gone extinct. Imga, Sload, Lilmothit, Dwemer. More variety given it'll be an MMO. I dont wanna go into a city and see 25 nord players standing around in a circle, I wanna see 25 players all of varying race and gender.

Lilmothith, Kothringi, Sload are possible, though I doubt we would see them beyond NPC's.
I expect Imga NPC's. No Imga would be a true let-down.
Dwemer alas went extinct around 1E700 and this takes place around 2E500

While I would love to see some of the Akavir races I doubt they'll be in any shape or form playable. It would also make sense to throw a few Imga into valenwood.

True. either NPC only, or an expansion pack race. Still, a guy can hope. One of the many things I love about TES are its races.

Technically, they weren't really referred to as Imperials until then, but http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Imperial.

Judging by how WOW expansions work, Akavir races will be playable in an Akavir expansion.
