What the best armor set for a BattleMage (FireMelee Combo)

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 6:44 pm

My character is a Destruction/Restoration/2h Melee Battlemage. I tend to prefer Fire magic and I use a 2h Greatsword as well. I was looking at maybe doing the full Dragon Scale Light armor set, but then I saw that heavy armor doesn't effect magic. I also don't want to spend 1/3 of my carrying weight on the daedric armor set, but if it gives me the best protection then maybe I can do that. Also, what are the best enchantments to put onto my gear?

Thanks for the help!

I would go with Daedric Armor Set and use the Steed Stone so that it doesn't weigh anything when equiped.

Personal preference. Weight makes no difference as you can either use the Steed Stone as The Terror of Death suggests or you can get an armor perk that makes worn armor weightless.

Daedric plus steed stone, or go heavy armor perk list. Also, fire is okay, but lightning does both health and magic damage. I stopped using a shield and 1 hand a mace with lightning enchant the other i have a lightning spell equiped.

I @ end found that lightning dmg seems to be over all the most useful with magic and health dmg.

I like the dwarven armor. I really like the look, plus there's a quest reward that gives it a pretty good armor rating boost. You can get your smithing up high enough to craft it really quickly, and save the perk points for something else.

Well, I would not recomend using heavy armor unless you planned to put a fair amount of perks into it, simple because without the added protection from the perks it will not offer enough defense comparred to its weight. I would also recomend the Conditioned perks which removes the weight of worn heavy armor, or you can use the Steed Stone.

With all of the defense boosting perks anything over orcish/steel plate whould offer excellent protection. This assumes that you have some smiting ability which your original post slightly implies.
If you do not want tp use many perks in the smithing tree I recomend Steel Plate, since can achieve the 80% damage reduction cap and only require you to put 3 perks into smithing(up to advanced armors) to make it possible to forge it and upgrade it to legendary.

Thanks for the advice. I have already gotten my blacksmithing up to 100 and I unlocked all Blacksmithing perks, if that helps.

At that point all armor is free game so go for the one you like best, though I still recomend that you use Steel Plate/Orcish quality or higher.
How developed is you heavy armor perk tree?

No points in it because I still havent decided the route of my armor yet. I just threw pieces together until now.

Then how many perks do you ecpect to put into it? 8 perks are requires for all the defense increase, while 11 is required for all defense increase and weight reduction, unless you use the Steel Stone.
