So what's the deal with the Dark Slit Philtrum when you're a

So if you installed Dawnguard Vampires acquired a new cosmetic facelift, that included orange eyes, pale skin, gaunt look, darkened eyes and lips, and as well as a darkened or slit philtrum.
The philtrum lies above the lip it's the dip above your mouth also called cupid's bow or raindrop.

My question is what is that cosmetic change suppose to be? It wasn't like that before the Dawnguard update on vampires.
Is this a programming issue meant to be directly located above the lip but didn't adhere correctly.
It seems a lot of people have this on their Skyrim character and there seems to be dislike on this aesthetic change.
Would be nice to get some light shed on this aesthetic change.

Notice that the slit doesn't appear on my female Khajit, only on my Nord, have yet to test on other races.

Some vampires don't happen to have this slit such as this NPC:

No slit appears in Vampire Lord transformation, so the idea of the slit incorporating the features of a bat isn't present.

It's a part of the vampire's overhaul. We get a hideous red line one our faces.

Nevermind I see them, but I don't understand why Bethesda did this. I think they shouldn't have changed the way vampires look.

It will be easier to see with better quality pictures, but it's there.

I'm almost certain that all of the new vampire characters in the Castle were individually customized by Bethesda to look the way they do. Serana and Harkon are basically normal humans with glowing eyes, they have no Vampirism appearance changes at all. Also, the other Vampires have bat noses, something the PC doesn't get access to for some reason.

It's very confusing.

Bat face is possible for Dunmer, also apparently red slit doesn't appear on all races

My Imperial vampire also got bloodly lips, with blood dripping from them
I know, it sounds incredibly clishé...
I would get picks... maybe in the moring.
But i dont really mind. Atleast we dont look like the, um, other vampire NPCs... (the noses)

Your vamp Khajit doesn't seem to have noticable fangs, which is weird because mine does.

Weird, I have a Dunmer male vampire and he doesn't have the bat face, just the eyes as far as I can tell.

And the other poster with the bloody lips on the imperial, I wonder if it's related to the stage of vampirism you're at.

I personally like it then again I can't see it all that much since my Imperial has a pretty epic goatee. =P

Looks more like my guy didn't clean up after biting someone from the little bit I see.

Apparently it's terribly random but only dunmer can get the batface and even then it's a bloody dice roll as to whether it happens

I always thought it had something to do with how starved you get.
Stage 1 = somewhat normal other than some color change.
Stage 4 = bat face with red slit.
I could be way off on that.
My female Dark Elf looks awesome. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Hmmm... Well, I have no clue then. That was my guess.
It seems like it may just be completely random.
I do suggest a female Dunmer just because the dark evil look seems to only complement them.

I honestly dont think beth put it in on purpose (at least i hope not...),im thinking that our faces were probably supposed to be monstrous but instead we got some glitch that gave us this odd looking red slit.

You could think of them like the Reaper vampires from Blade.

Might be, although from past games they have put out and overhauled there might also be some purpose to it all.
Either way, it svcks we cant figure it out. So give or take on looking good or just stupid.
