What is the Hearthfire price on Steam for your region?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:02 pm

I believe the standard price is $4.99 USD?

Yet here in NZ it is $6.49 USD?

I guess because they have to account for postage and packaging to get it to this side of the world, right?
Honestly, this is offensive and Beth/Valve have just lost a sale.

In Europe it cost €4.99, which is about $6.51. This is http://steamcommunity.com/groups/1e1us. And it's not just Steam either, but other digital stores too like PlaystationStore and all the retail stores around the world too.

The only place that have the same price for games around all the world is pretty much just GOG.com

Since when has what the Americans pay for anything been the same as what everyone else pays for the same thing, especially for games in Australia and New Zealand, where for a retail game we pay so much more. Our pricing system is not based on what the price is in the USA.

The reason we pay higher digital distribution version prices for FULL GAMES, which are also released at retail, is so they're priced closer to the retail prices set by the local distributors.

However, as Hearthfire isn't available at retail, this doesn't hold water. I don't see any reason for this regional price fixing of online-only DLC over what is effectively an international medium (Steam)

In Poland there is no price on Steam because we don't have access to Skyrim DLCs. Neither Dawnguard nor Hearthfire.

On auctions its about $13.

No Dawnguard or Hearthfire in Czech Republic. So $0.

Do New Zealand and Europe have VAT, or does that not apply to dowloads?

Wait. It's been a month already? I had no idea it was even available until I was browsing through Steam looking for cool videos to watch. Goes to show you how much I pay attention.

DLing it now. I wish however, my game wasn't so bugged. M'yep, my game is bugged but I'm still buying it. I loves Beth.

Even then, the net price would still be more.

Actually on the PlayStation store it is $0.

With the US$ at parity with the AU$ we are paying a lot more in Aus.... $6.49 on Steam. No VAT or GST involved. There is no justification for the price hike that I can see. It's just Bethesda charging foreigners more — because they can.

Australia here, $6.49 ... and I'm ignoring both of the DLC until they go on special, because of the price disparity. Side effect of this is that it gives the Unofficial Skyrim Patch people more time to fix bugs (as I'm sure Bethesda has already moved onto the next DLC/full game that they can charge us for), which means I may not have to restore saves from backups regularly, when I do get around to playing the DLC.

I had a major spit about this on the weekend...for the aussies, I've raised the issue with Hanson-Young of the Greens, who is writing to the US Embassy in relation to US-Australian digital download pricing, and is also going to raise the price disparities for video games etc in general with the government. It's not the price of this one particular item that irritated me, it's the principle that we are paying over a third more than the same product delivered in the same manner at the same cost of service.

Hearthfire is unavailable in the Eastern bloc. Along with Dawnguard. And you can not get original Skyrim through online distribution either.

So I just bought all of them from a UK online distributor. 3.49 pounds.

I never understood either. It just makes no sense. Maybe because 'just five buckazoids!' looks better than 'Get it now for 4.23774!'

The Canadian Dollar was strong during the time I bought this so I would have paid a few cents shrt of 4.99 CAN... as it was in the steam store for 4.99 USD... BUT my paypal and steam wallets were empty so I had to link to my bank which required a small conversion fee.. so I ended up paying about 5.99 CAN for the game.
