So what's the point of chopping wood?

There's a lot of pretty cool little things in skyrim, but whats the point of chopping wood? What do I benefit?

chop wood, go to the guy in the sawmill in riverwood (not sure if there are more people), and sell the firewood. easy money but it takes a while.

i chopped quite alot of wood in rivertown and got a load of money to start with. really nice, but the more u do it to less u get paid

I guess I can exploit the crap out of it by spending hours wood-chopping. Especially if you can simply have your guy start chopping, then leave the TV for hours while your poor guy labors for coins.
