What's the verdict?

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 9:49 am

Someone please ease my mind and tell me how awesome the game is. I see all these negative posts and it scars me, the only reason I'm thinking it may not be that bad because it seen these people are picking apart this game. Someone tell me how amazing this game is, how you've been up all night playing non stop. Early in the year I made a thread asking if these forums get swamped with people saying this or that is wrong with Skyrim, you all told me it gets pretty bad on here but this bad really?

I pick up my game In few hours and I was expecting to play this amazing game, will I be disappointed or extremely satisfied. I'm hoping that most of the people that are loving the game just don't have time to come here and talk, maybe they are addicted and can't get enough of Skyrim. Tell me your honest opinion. There can't be that many major flaws.

Maybe someone can tell me something that happened that's really cool or unexpected. You guys said this site would get overloaded with negative threads and you were right. The only thing that makes me not as worries is most of these 'bash Skyrim' topics are from people who seem to want no changes from past TES games. Are they out of their minds? Please Skyrin lovers tell about all the greatness Skyrim has to offer. Thanks

It's great. Just ignore the wet blankets.

There are some issues but you really shouldn't expect perfection nor are they gamebreaking. Unless you're some elitist snob.

People need to not judge the game based on the complainers in forums on the day of release.

The game is good, I'm having a lot of fun. There IS a serious issue with textures looking like crap on the Xbox however.

Hi,

If you'd care to check out my initial experiences here it might be useful to you. Such an active forum my post was near the bottom of the first page moments after posting!

That's because most people who are enjoying the game are too busy playing it
The people complaining are a loud relative few who either have a legitimate but personal complaint, or just always find something, no mater how small, to [censored] about.

So yeah, I wouldn't worry too much.

Never go by forum posts as your way of rating if a game is good or not, it is almost always a small minority who are having issues/problems and those are the ones who will crop up more often on a forum

I've posted some complaints myself, the UI as a PC gamer is reaaaaaally bad.. but I love the game, i'm gonna get lost in it and i'm gonna love every minute :P

Well, as with each new release, it'l take some getting used to the interface, the controls, etc... But, the game and visuals ROCK :) . The interface to me kind of mkaes me think of Witcher 2. Once I get used to it, it shouldn't be a problem.

But, the visuals and performance definitely take home the gold for me. NOTE: That screenshot is reduced in size. The original was 2560x1600 before I uploaded it.

What many negative thing's? Yes, there are a bunch of negative treads but they are all about just ONE thing: bad UI on PC (ok, there are also Steam treads but the problem with those are that people are ridiculously stubborn).

Globally tough, the game seems to be marvelous as long as you clench your teeth a bit and get used to the UI.

I was worried that I might have hyped myself up too much about this game and I would be disappointed when I got to play.. NOT the case. Every good thing you heard about this game, its actually better than that.

I have only played 1-2 hours so far, but the interface on PC is quite horrible but you get used to it in time so its not that bad. The game itself is similar to previous TES games in terms of most, the graphics are a bit better and the game is much more simplified from my experience so far, I don't like the last part so much.

Overall its a enjoyable experience so far, alltho I don't understand some decisions they made like making the game so much simplified.

Id give it a 8 out of 10 so far.

To the OP - relax, I will tell you how things work:

- Game is released;
- Patches and Mods are released part I;
- You read a tsunami of negative posts --> 95% complain, 5% say its great;
- The VAST majority who are enjoying are playing, not posting;
- Patches and Mods are released part II;
- After 10 days or so, the breakdown will be close to 50% both;
- Patches and Mods are released part III;
- After 30 days or so, the breakdown will be close to 75% good;
- Patches and Mods are released part IV;
- After 45 days or so, the breakdown will be close to 90% good, but 1/2 these will have started a "Oblivion is better than Skyrim" thread;
- After 720 days or so, I will consider buying it, but meanwhile will post constructive AND annoying posts, for the heck;
- This is indeed a constructive post, aiming at calming you down;

I can only speak as someone playing the Xbox 360 version, and I've only been playing for a couple of hours, but...to be honest it isn't much different to Oblivion.

As others have pointed out, some of the textures are horrible. A lot of the animations are too. The graphics are not that great, to be honest. One sequence going down a spiral staircase, you meet large rodents coming in the opposite direction, and they FLOAT up !!

I am a bit puzzled - it does seem to have been somewhat overhyped by the press to say the least.

If you liked Oblivion, you will like Skyrim. Just don't expect the experience to be all that different. And if you didn't like Oblivion, absolutely do not buy it.

Sorry, Bethesda...

I recieved an e-mail from my supplier this morning to tell me that the game would be one day late. I almost cried.

Then a little further down the said " Due to the technical fault, they will add £10 to my account"; which means the game has only cost me £17 instead of £27.

Wipes away tears. I think I could put up with that.

People had incredibly high expectations.

The only negative point I can relate to is the PC UI.

They sold like a million copies last night. Around 25-50 people are here whining. Sounds like a lot of happy people to me.

Most of the complaints are coming from PC. I could see their reasoning cause they only did runs on console and whatnot, maybe because console users cant get mods like they can? but still the glitches they're taking are horrendous but not game ruining.

Stop with the hive-mind mentality, please. Especially when you call those who provide feedback "elitists." It's very hypocritical.

If everyone who's not complaining was playing the game, there'd be no positive posts.

As has been stated various times, the same thing happened with Oblvion versus Morrowind (and pretty much Morrowind versus Daggerfall, too). As a personal example, aside from the poor character aesthetics (for me, mind you), there are people who rather rudely claimed that "anime-style" doesn't belong in Tamriel (despite Beth claiming that you can play any character you want, any way you want... that's an overstated marketing ploy they need to stop doing). Personally (again), I would point out that dual wielding has no place in Tamriel and does nothing for me as far as empathizing with my character, being immersed, etc.

What's the point that I am offering? Subjectivity... that's where the many posts come from. What isn't subjective, though, is Beth's claims in their marketing and any failure to live up to said claims. Any post pointing out failure to meet marketing and/or interview statements are valid criticism.

Well, ya see TC, there's this thing called unrealistic expectations. Young children/man-child's tend to have them in abundance. Pretty much explains all the whining. Also yeah, lot of 'em are just trolls who couldn't get the game yet and read a negative fan review. *yawn*
