What they should've had in Heartfire.

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:06 am

They should've allowed you to make a small town like Riverwood or Rorikstead. I think it would've been neat to have to get a population going and building the whole thing from scratch. Then it would be up to you to hire guards (Like mercenaries or hired swords) to keep it safe, or pay a Jarl for protection every few months (Since you cant always been in your town). You could be the "Founder" or "Mayor" like figure!

I've seen quite a lot of people since the game's release making topics about whether it was in some way possible to change spouse clothing and/or equipped items (particularly Sylgja and her pickaxe), and I'm surprised something like that didn't make it in Hearthfire, since this would have been the DLC to include that in I think. Maybe if they ever get around to adding the follower improvements from the Game Jam video that allow you to set "favorites" for equipment so followers equip whatever you want regardless of armor/damage rating, they'll give you the option for regular spouses, too.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with what Hearthfire brings for $5 apart from the various glitches, of course. I guess if there's one thing I definitely would have liked to see included, it would be the ability to choose a house addition without it being locked to a specific wing. My ideal house setup would probably be bedroom/kitchen/library, but the latter two wings are conflicting, so it can't be done.

I like the town idea. I would have been happy if we could have become Jarl of a small village that already exists, or be allowed to replace one of the Jarls during the civil war. I think that would have been exciting to have as a part of the civil war quest.

As for the conflicting wings of the house, here's how I plan to deal with it. I'll make all three of the houses to get them but I agree it would be nice to "mix and match" a little more.

I think they should have allowed us to build a Fountain of Bitter Tears on the front lawn of our new property. It's memorializing...well, you know...

That's an easter egg I'd kill to have in game.

When you guys get your $5 footlong at Subway, do you also ask for a side of foie-gras?

With all due respect, I appreciate what you're saying. I personally, would be willing to pay more, much more for bigger content. Even if I had to wait a little longer.

They should have allowed to create a setting around your house like a pond with ducks or waterfall and a river, some woods too.
Perhaps a flower bed and much more.

I like this idea too. Even make some quests that come with the wondering travelers that happen upon your newly created town. Maybe hearthfire is just the prelude to some future content.. idk, just speculation

Something else that I think would be great for Hearthfire (not sure if it is in but I doubt it) is a "Item Placement Mode"

This would make it much easier to place objects around your house, such as Goblets, Skulls, Helmets, Alchemy objects, food etc etc.. things like that. I mean, it's already built into the development of the game, we would just need a newb friendly version of it accessible while in your houses. Idk why, but I've spent many hours with the current houses in the holds semi decorating them, even restocking the Thieves guild treasure room and DB Sanctuary... and boy is it a pain sometimes getting stuff to sit right with the current click + hold + drag and drop method..

I have pc version of skyrim.. so still waiting on the Hearthfire, but I look forward to it, and the future larger expansions..

How awesome would that be? Dragonborn with his very own town. All guards walking around in Dragonscale Armor. A REAL home worthy of the Dragonborn/Archmage/Listener/Nightingale and not some cookie cutter ranch style Heartfire house.

Dragonborn needs a castle like Volkihar or a hidden cave type home like the old Blades Temple or original Dark Brotherhood hideout. It just really, really, really, really bothers me that Hearthfire gives you nothing but a boring Ranch style home and not something unique and Dragonborn worthy.

I like Hearthfire, and for $5. i think its worth it even tho im done building houses, im still out hunting to fill my trophy room. i would gladly pay more and wait longer if they wanted to let us build up our own town. I love that idea. i have to say tho, i was a little sad when we didn't get the option to buy a goat for our farm :(
I also like that i can now make Dragonbone weapons, arrows as well as Daedric arrows. Now i can finally put all my daedra hearts and dragon bones i've been collecting to good use.

The ability to craft these things actually came out with Dawnguard and patch 1.7, but I do agree with you that they're very pleasant additions to the game.

They should have added new, original houses. They basically added 3 partially customizable houses which are in the middle of nowhere and basically similar to Proudspire Manor. I would've liked some sort of Castle, like Castle Volkihar, where we can hire Guards and customize rooms and have our own 'court'. I don't know, Hearthfire is good for $5, but I would happily pay another $10 for my own castle or town.

Hearthfire is $5. 5. Dollars.

Also, the notion of "build your own castle" is a little ludicrous. Building a house is enough work on its own. Building a castle or hollowing out a cave would take a whole team of workers, etc. etc. And just because your idea of the Dragonborn makes the character into some kind of malevolent, brooding ruler who needs a giant castle to feel important doesn't mean that everyone else plays the character that way.

*Changing a spouse's clothing and giving her/him gifts.

*More conversations with your spouse

*A load more of stuff to give the children and more to do with them (e.g. taking them on trips, telling them stories about your adventures and such)

*Being able to buy dogs of different races and name them (this goes for horses too)

*More options for the houses, e.g. materials to build with, architectural style, more options for the rooms...

Also, I'd like a free side of lobster to go with this Big Mac.

ha you took the words from my fingers

seriously though it is only $5 from our pocket but millions of dollars put into theirs. I wish i knew the number of downloads so far but i can bet its well over a million so far and they still haven't even touched the PC or Ps3 pockets yet...

for millions of dollars they should give us more meat on the bone then simply "house armor" with not much difference between builds except for the "should i add this or leave it out" type of differences that we as players have to make to keep the 3 houses from being exactly the same.

I love skyrim and love anything new added as im xbox and cant add my own things but they could put more effort into these add-ons then simply copying and pasting ideas (gamejam) and models (load screen trophies)

No one is saying that they shouldn't include more content because they're not making money from the DLC. We're saying that they're charging a fair price for the content that's there. You're asking for a ridiculous level of content for something that costs you $5.

And that said, Hearthfire adds a whole new level of RP-gameplay for $5. When did people start getting so entitled that they think they're supposed to get a whole new game for free?
