What type of anti-cheat software will ESO use?

Post » Wed Oct 09, 2013 7:00 am

Just read an article about evasive anti-cheating software and how some of the software used by developers invades privacy by scanning your hard-drive even when you are not playing the game - which made me wonder what ESO might be like.

Does anyone know what type of anti-cheat software ESO will use? Will it be something like GameGuard or VaC?

Nothing on account or game security has been talked about in depth, hopefully soon but i doubt we will see any news until closer to launch.

Probably VAC, since I'm presuming that it'll be a Steam game.

I'm sure the game could be found on Steam, but I don't think it'll be a Steam game though, like Skyrim was.

If you cheat, Sheogorath appears in front of your computer and beats you with the Wabbajack.

What's the reasoning with that? So far we've had both Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas being a Steam game. IIRC, several other Zenimax-related games are also Steam-authenticated as well. Skyrim even has Steam Workshop for a mod emporium. I think it's safe to say that BGS and all its sister studios are there to stay with Steam.

Lol, VAC is a valve anti-cheat program. ZOS isn't going to put it in their game.

HAHA! best post today.

I hope they will have something good. Also the anti-cheat needs to include some type of anti BOT.

It's just sad that people can't find the time to level or farm their skills and let a program do it for them. IT WILL BE IMMERSIVE BREAKING AS HELL to see an dragonknight stuck in a tree or something.

would announcing the type of protection make it any easier for people who write/sell hacks?
