They only can use spears? Dang, someone on here earlier said that his riekling was using a sword...

I've only seen them use spears so idk, maybe they can use swords? Although they are primitive tribal oriented creatures so spears and only spears seem fitting.

Greatswords, but they still weild it like a spear. They can equip armor for the damage defense, but it doesn't show up on them. I'm also quite sure they can use bows, but I can't confirm that one from personal experience. I can't confirm anything else.

I still can't find this riekling follower. I've completed the Thirsk quests and groups of them come to help me once in a while, but no follower.

Try dismissing all of yoyr current followers(human and pets) then talk to the rieklings outside of the mead hall or inside it. It's a glitch that makes them take up both slots, after you have the riekling follower you can rehire your human follower.

Update: My riekling is a rieking warrior with the horned helmet, he seems to use throwing spears and will take a bow and arrow, but will just throw the arrows. My girlfriend's riekling is a riekling warrior, but with a feathered head dress and seems to use his spear as a 2-handed weapon, but will not use a bow and arrow, or throw his spear. I have not tried giving my riekling a greatsword yet so I don't know if he will accept it, so as far as I know the horned helmet rieklings are ranged and the feathered head dress rieklings are melee.

I'm so making my Riekling warrior carry an arsenal of dragon arrows.
