What to do with Saadia

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 7:12 pm

Regarding the In My Time of Need quest, I was just wondering, is it better to help the red guard or to help Saadia?

I'm just saying. The quest is designed to be ambiguous and the designers have no clear intent as to the truth. Neither leads to any other quests or random encounters. Just make a choice.

I was actually wondering about this quest. I always seem to side with the redguards looking for her. They always seem genuinely shocked that you thought they were assassins...

Role playing the usual Nord warrior with mead and wenches? Save the lady.

Otherwise, rat her out and take the money. :hubbahubba:

I chose Saadia because I wanted Scimtars and the unique Hammerfell Garb.

I didn't even listen to Kematu.

On a good character, I side with the men looking for her. She makes no attempt to refute their claims when you bring her to them, and a gentle noblewoman speaking out against the Thalmor wouldn't take you upstairs and pull a knife on you. She's obviously two-faced and that moment shows it.

On an evil character, I side with the men looking for her. Because I hate the Thalmor that much.

There was one random encounter where you see a couple of the harassing a Redguard woman thinking it might be her and of course you end up with those two guys permanently standing inside the entrance to Whiterun but that's all I've noticed. It's just a one off quest so can go either way without affecting the storyline.

Tell Kematu that you will bring her.
Lead Saadia to the stables.
Let Kematu refrain her.
Collect 500 from Kematu.
Kill Kematu.
Saadia will attack you. Use a calm spell on her or kill her.
If you calm her, she will also give you 500.
Killing her gets you her jewellery.
Kematu's corpse gets you another 250.

Side nobody, get all the money.

That's what I'm talking about. Only afterwards I raided the den too and took all the loot.

Thanks for the replies - I know this wasn't part of the main quest or anything but I was wondering how others thought about the redguard or the Alki (sp?). (And I did see the two soldiers questioning another redguard woman in another part of a quest where I was traveling)

chill home slice. He didn't mean anything rude by it and even if he did it's best not to feed trolls (not that he was trolling). There isn't really any negative side effect to this particular decision as you don't know who is telling the truth and who is lying. Of course I kill the Alik'ir myself.. They say they aren't assassins yet when you talk to the one in prison he mentions how they are elite and just mentioning kematu's name is foolish and that I would be asking for death just from knowing it which makes me believe Saadia more than them of course. Not to mention it's just like the thalmor to send assassins. Bad ones at that ;)

I decided to side with Saadia on one of my characters. I noticed that after a few fast travels back to Whiterun, the warriors from Rorikstead were now permanently at the front door to white run. (They are essential and thus can't be cleared out. :glare: ) Then, I went in to Jorvasskar and found Skjor back from the dead. Not sure if this is related or not. Maybe a bug or something.

I can only say one thing, for those who wants to listen...

Spoiler

If you lead Saadia to the stables and after the redguard paralyzes her you KILL her.. the guard says "All this effort to find her and you just KILLED her?!"

That for me proved he didn't want to kill her and she was wrong, because she tries to kill you if you release her.

Also, if you DO turn her over, the thalmor eventually send a hit squad after you for killing their contact. Which further seems to confirm the redguard warrior's version of events.

Thalmors send dead squads after you regardless what you do. The man in prison say you that if you find kematu he will kill you (he IS an assassin after all, but as he is a clever one he preffer to make you do his work). Letting one of his mens to root in jail instead of paying 100 gold? very honorable! Of course they won't kill her, thalmors preffer her alive for interrogation. If the most powerfull people in the world paid her, how is that she is working in an inn without any means of protecting herself? How can her prosecutors seek for her openly?

In my opinion is crystal clear that she is the one saying the truth. Besides, if you side with Kematu you will have one less NPC in the inn she works in.
