What's with the kamikaze horses?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 7:58 am

So earlier this evening I was riding to Darkwater Crossing when I spotted a cave bear grunting and waving its paws at nothing in particular. I dismounted, took aim with my bow and was just about to fire when my horse charged the bear, blocking my shot to boot. I thought horses were one of the most easily frightened creatures in nature? I can also mention that this is my second horse, the first one died while heroically and moronically defending me from a gang of bandits. I would really prefer if they fled from enemies, combined with a "call horse" ability.

Yep, I agree. My horse was actually pulling aggro off me while i was fighting a frikkin dragon!

Also, horses are supposed to be a sure-footed animal and all, but the way they can climb mountains in Skyrim is beyond ridiculous.

And whats with your horse magically finding you every time you fast travel, even when its nowhere near you when you leave, or even when you take a carriage?

Horses are OP.

I got overpowered by a bunch of Trolls about 30 minutes ago, lured them back to an imperial camp.

What killed the Trolls wasn't the imperial guards though, it was their horses...

I have given up on them, the first 2 i bought just vanish, bloody Gypsies must have nicked em, I dismount far enough away that they don't join the aggro and when the battle was over no where to be found I spent hours looking. So fast traveled thinking they would turn up but vanished no ransom note or anything.

I have stole Frost a crazy stallion its like a Lion it will attack anything.

I would rather they run away and come back after the battle is over, like a real horse would, and give them saddle bags so they can carry stuff.

Two horses came to my aid when a dragon attacked... I felt like a sissy hiding behind my shield when two horses were going apes on that dragon unprotected.

This happens in Oblivion as well. Except horses in Oblivion would never flee, while the ones in Skyrim seem to do so after taking a certain amount of damage (although occasionally my horse will quickly rejoin the battle after recovering).

I had that happen too..kinda. It was one horse that took on the dragon, but I accidentally hit him with my flames spell (he was in the way) so when he wasn't attacking the dragon he was attacking me. I think things would work out better if they weren't so combat happy. Although, it was one of the best things that's happened in the game so far. I was laughing the whole time while he was attacking the dragon or me.
